Water leak maybe? Sure it's smoke and not steam? I had water get into my back box the other night, thought it was smoke when I started up got a bit worried, then realised what had happened.

I expect it may be the rocker cover gasket.

Do you have wrapped headers? When they get wet they start steaming as they warm up!

Is it a big DIY job? My nearside rocker cover looks - and smells - like it is leaking, but it looked a bit tight for room to get it off, so I'm happy with living with mine.

Think you need to remove the inlet tract and the battery and washer bottle on the other side to get better access the rocker cover and also was mentioned to use a decent sealent on the replacement gasket to help the seal.
