Default So, what baby seats are you using in your classic Scoob?

It's a topic that has been done to death and I offer my apologies for that but a search brings up the most random of results... So I'm hoping this thread will be a more definite yes or no answer.

So my little boy is gonna be needing a group 1 onwards front facing car seat soon (9 months plus), which me and the mrs plan putting in the back of our Impreza. The Scoob is a my99 wagon so I really need to see watch brands and models fit without hassle. I've tried the Britax site and that does 2002 onwards Imprezas but no classic variants which is, well bloody useless

So what car seats do you guys have? I'm after a front facing group 1 onwards (some cover 1, 2 and 3) so needs to be 9 months onwards. I don't mind paying for quality as I want this one to last for a long time but don't wanna be paying over the odds for a 'name' brand etc.

Suggestions and bargains welcome! I want others to be able to use this thread as info because it is a minefield and something we want to get right for the safety of our child without wasting money on overpriced crap either!

Thanks in advance,

Andy

We got ours from mothercare. Great service, and they even let me trial fit various seats into the car before i parted with my cash.

Treat the bairn, instead of making him wear Man Ure kits.

Default Recaro all the way

I got a Recaro seat for my little one about 12 months ago & Demon tweeks had the best deal on them at the time (about £130).Also Sparco do a pretty cool baby seat as well & its only about £80.
Recaro all the way for me

I'll find out what mine is, I know its a Maxi Cosi, but will check the model.
Its not easy getting them for a classic Scoob, thats if you have them fitted in properly. Something a lot of people overlook is the fact the seat belt buckle cannot be touching the seat, as it could wear over time or break in an accident.
The one I have has a high base, so the seatbelt buckle is taut but not touching the seat itself. Thats what took the time, looking for one like that. Most companies don't even state they fit a classic, they all start from bug eyes, in their books.

As CoB knows I'll be in a similar position. Our six month old is already a tight fit in his Maxi-Cosi rear facing seat but front facing is a no-no until the can sit up unaided for half and hour or more and over nine months.

Probably going to get one of these: http://www.kiddy.de/en/childrens-car...nergy-pro.html

Highest rated group 1 seat by Which? and they conduct their own tests including front impact, side impact etc.

Surprisingly not an ISOFix job either which is good for us as the missus car has it but my current runabout doesn't.

ISOFix will also go in a non ISOFix car. They still have the seatbelt option.

I knew that. It's just that the crash protection ratings for ISOFix seats usually fair best when fixed to the corresponding ISOFix base. Certainly in the Which? reviews the same seat fixed with the belt doesn't fair so well.

The one I linked to comes top of their Group 1 list and it can only be installed with a seatbelt. There is no ISOFix option. So all good

I suggest you sign up to 'which' magazine for a month, may only be £1, they do regular reviews on baby seats and its worth its weight in gold, you can look at all old reviews.

When my daughter was born we had a Recaro which was rated 2 out of all the seats, only knocked off the top spot because it was expensive, when she needed her next one I automatically went for a Recaro, but just before I did I checked out the report and it basically said if you have an accident your child WILL be hurt, I then obviously went for the Maxi Cosy Profi plus IIRC, top rated and I was much happier about my choice.

Now she is in the next one so went on Which again and got their top rated seat, cheap aswell!

Slight mod to her lastest one!!

Cheers
A

Hmm, interesting reading guys. As I now know the Scoob is not equipped with an ISOfix and this is our only car after I sold our Peugeot 406 a couple weeks back.

I am currently looking at this seat as it seems good value with decent reviews...

Obviously if money was no issue I'd spend whatever was required but in my situation currently I'm looking for the safest possible within a "sensible" budget. Sounds horrible but...
