Bit of a shocker this one.

A friend of mine test drove the new M3.
He liked it. Nice drive, nice sound ... nice car .

Going through the minor details he asked about installing his stereo.
Subs, amps etc you get the picture.

Shock! Horror!! If he does not put in a BMW system, HIS WARRANTY IS INVALIDATED !!!

I remember a time when you couldn't get a Bavarian with a system in it

It may actually to buy an import with a one year warranty and then put your stereo in after 12 months then ...

LOL

There is no way of them proving that changing the stereo would brake something mechanical with the car. The warranty that would be effected is everything ajoined to the Stereo (so perhaps in car phone kit etc etc etc)

BMW UK, I know for a fact, Had many Pioneer top of the range units being shipped out to dealers to be fitted in 330s etc etc. If the dealer fits them, then they would use the units warranty (if they are an approved installer) and not the cars.

Never mind the stereo, if you remove the speed limiter that also invalidates your warranty.

Imagine three years being restricted to 155mph!! Surely the same doesn't apply in Germany...????

Yes it does, but not for the reason you probably think...
