Default What sort of power should i be expecting?

Hello..

I have a 2003 WRX at the moment.

Recently i have bought..

VF34 Turbo,
STi TMIC
Denso 55Occ injectors,
Decat Uppipe

Just need now..

3 Port,
Fuel Pump,
Green Panel Filter,
Ecutek Remap.

The car currently has a 3inch Downpipe - 2.5inch centre pipe and a PPP kit.

Once all mods have been fitted and the cars been remapped what sort of figures should i be expecting?

Thanks jamie

340ish bhp,you should start saving for some decent brakes and a 6speed as 5speed wont last long mate unless you are very easy on it.

Flowing enough air from a VF34 at 350 BHP means the turbine is near to heating up the air (adiabatic) rather than compressing it effectively. All that heat means high charge temps and heading for det.

Throw in 20% meth

I've seen meth mentioned a lot on here! What actually is it? Some sort of race fuel?

I mentioned Meth a bit in jest LOL

Meth = Methanol. You can put it in your tank at 10-20% (or inject into the inlet tract) and it increases power because of the "increase" in effective RON number.

10% Usually adds about 20 BHP and the same torque.

I am running the same on my bugeye wrx but ported headers and with a larger tmic I got 334 hp/ 325 LbFt, but I have just gone Fmic which has got me too 352/340 mapped by JGM but I think that is as far as will go on a VF34 by you will love the turbo plus it is ported as well.

I have a VF35, FMIC, 255 pump, induction kit and sports cat system and have 336/300.

Front mount makes a big difference and the induction kit adds to the spool/dump noise.

In the future i'm looking for a full de-cat system, ported or stainless headers and de-cat up pipe plus adding a 3 port to increase torque. Not interested in adding much bhp but if I can get 340/340 i'll be happy as i'm on a 754 5 speed box.

Lightweight flywheel also makes a big difference for not a lot of ££.

Doubt you need to add the 550's unless your going for 400+ in the future, get the pump in there 1st, not the injectors. You should see 330/300 with a top mount, vf34 and panel filter etc etc.

Is a front mount worth it? .. Cus you read a lot about them saying not good at this bhp. And also make the turbo laggy. How did you find it?

2000 reg Classic mate, standard EJ20 engine

you'll struggle to make a VF turbo laggy mate, especially with ported/de-catted pipes and exhaust. Spool up starts around 2500 rpm with full delivery before 4k. I've never noticed it being that laggy but like I say, the flywheel makes a big difference so it revs and picks up better anyway

FMIC is the safest best, colder air to the throttle body.

Whats your car running power wise at the moment? My friend has a 2001 bug with stock TD04 but we just added a pump, 3 port, de-cat exhaust and Racedynamix remap and she's at 270/270 on 95 unleaded. If youre running standard and then just "think" you want 350 bhp then you might be suprised what 300+ feels like.

I'd go for an induction kit and front mount if you can afford it, this will give the car a more aggressive induction noise etc to compliment the other mods.

Hamster, well at the moment its around 250 ish as it has the ppp kit on. Has a full decat. I know that sti tmic and my airbox is good for around 400 as I've read on here.

So the car would benefit from a front mount? Just I'd be concerned about turbo lag!

I can certainly save and get one there not too expensive are they?

My advice, fit the walbro pump, VF34, up pipe, panel filter and 3 port then get it mapped.

Not sure if you're ECUtek only or can be done open source but Emma had hers done at her house by Duncan at Racedynamix for £300. Good thing is, its mapped on the road while you drive so you feel every benefit from it, in every gear. Simon at JGM also does the same. You'll have no idea what the bhp/torque figure is, just how the car feels. If you're a number chaser then you'll have to get it dyno'd but we havent bothered, Emma's just chuffed with the change its made to the car.

ECUTek is expensive as you have to pay £150 for the license whereas open source you dont.

After that, if you want to add further mods you only have to pay for map tweeks, but i'd go for that lot 1st and see how the car feels.

Fair play, just hope its less than £300 or its not worth it compared to OS. Up pipe is a few bolts, pretty easy TBH. I'd also consider wrapping your exhaust headers at the same time as this will improve spool up a little, or go for a set of harveys ported and wrapped headers as they are highly recommended. Check the trader section.

The FMIC made a little bit more laggy by about 200 rpm or so but gave me more mid range torque plus I have a light flywheel too.
