I wouldnt call 105k miles high mileage, though some have run over 200k miles on the original engine in subaru's.

Its not so much the miles as how it has been looked after and treated, if ragged or tracked to death then...

Guy who bought the front seats from my MY00 Turbo said that his car, owned from new, was on the original clutch at 180K. He wanted my seats as his drivers seat had gone.

It didn't look half that mileage.

Having said that I'm kinda looking at Prodrive Bugeyes but don't really want over 100K examples.

a 100k car thats been unabused and properly serviced can be much better than a 30k abused car.
look at the general condition of the car as this will be a clue to how well its been looked after,
if the wheels are all curbed and bodywork scratched or damaged then the car is probably not cared for and the engine wont be cared for either.

131k on 56 plate STi Spec D - headgaskets changed at 72k and 122k but no other engine troubles. Had the clutch and flywheel changed while the engine was out at 122k, but that was more precautionary than necessary.

Does having higher milage make the car worth less even tho its well looked after?

My '99 JDM Classic was sold at 150k miles with a big end failure at 80k which could have been down to me as oil was not up to max and potentially suffered surge on a long 90 degree bend topping 90 - serviced as book (7.5k miles I seem to recall)

Current Spec D at 80k with HG failure at 72k miles - serviced as book at every 10k miles.

Yes, mileage does reduce value as it is factual (sometimes) but TT's point is valid.

GarethE - Spooky! Who fixed your HGs? Hope my new one lasts more than 50k.

obviously a 120k car is worth less than a 60k car but if your comparing say a 40k and a 70k car thats say 7 or 8 years old general condition and history is just as important also number of owners.

hg failure is more of a fault on the 2.5s and less common on the 2.0l

Bugeye WRX with 115k miles on the clock....I don't really rag her very often and NEVER go over 3k until driven atleast 10miles...get her serviced about twice a year....booking in for a Major service soon...change plugs, diff oil, gear oil etc...

Just had her 3rd cambelt service...new pads on front...I have no problems with driving her for the forseable future, regardless of the mileage, and the way I look at it...the longer she lasts for, the more of an arguement I have for getting an STi when she does finally let go....

I have had her since April 2008 and have never had a problem( I am touching some wood right now..LOL)...ony running 240bhp/238lb so, nothing mental but plenty enough for my daily driver

People arlways assume that I have spent a fortune but I have done nothing since purchase except wear and tear items and crap loads of petrol..LOL

as 'We buy any Car' will only offer £1000...I may aswell keep on driving to them!!!

How much did those HG's cost you guys? £1200 fitted? Seems to be a std wear item on 2006 STis!

Bizarre that eh ! - Keith Price Subaru do all the work on my cars, Ive been a customer of theirs for 13 years so know the boys well, and they've always been brilliant with me. I don't mind paying the dealer prices when I know I can trust them.

First HG was done under warranty, the second time I had overheating as before, but it also turned out to have a slight crack in the rad, and I'd been a little lax in checking oil levels ! I think the fact that I'd done a fair mileage like that hadn't helped ! Also had a faulty cam sensor, so decided to have the lot done and change the clutch and flywheel at the same time as I planned to keep the car. Total cost was £2.5k plus the clutch and fly that I supplied myself.

I know I could have had it done cheaper elsewhere, but the convienience and customer service are worth it from my point of view.

165,000 miles on original (slappy) engine and turbo, but 3rd gearbox and second set of shocks. God knows how many tyres and brake discs.

Been running DIY PPP for last 2.5 years.

Serviced every 5000 miles for the last 75,000 miles (5 years or so) with Vauxhall 10W40 semi and pattern oil filter. Spare engine in garage waiting the inevitable

Oh and last Saturday did 86 miles at "high motorway speeds" and returned 27mpg.....still pulls like atrain
