Wouldn't of thought it would attract many buyers especially if wrx. I would try to find a used engine fit that then decide if to sell or keep

Shouldn't a rebuild normally be about £3k? What's the damage/being done?

Reputable builders do a fixed price rebuild for OEM (lightly modded) engines *way* below £5 grand.........

extensive damage done, heads need refurb, skimming, block needs machining, and then the mods to make sure that detonation doesnt happen again, it will be costing around 5-6k maybe more, how much wud a second engine be?

theres 2 engines on the bay complete £1300 and £1800 every1 is saying stick a used engine in and sell it but how would they feel if it was them who bought it and found out just that? either rebuild or save your money sell and move on

must say that in the link above looks good value compared to your rebuild cost, I sold some bits to someone last year that had a hawk sti and he had fitted a forged 2.0 in it rather than the 2.5, maybe a good used jdm engine might pop up for sale, I doubt you would get a decent price as it stands as the prospective owner will be looking for a bargain and obviously cant test anything else on the car so would be taking your word for it,

Wouldn't bother me one bit buying a hawk WRX which had a newage STI motor fitted. If anything it would be better...
As long as the fella is straight up and honest about the engine change then can't see the problem IMO.

If it was me in your position chap I'd be trawling this site for a good used newage STI engine.

it is a wrx with 7k already spent on mods, plus the cost of the car 2 years ago,

im not gonna stick any old engine into it, if i go down tht route it will be done right, as i wudnt want to buy something thts done dodgy myself!
even if i put a engine in it still talking probably 3k at a guess

what you,ve spent is pretty much irelavant when selling m8 ive spent 40k on mine and id be lucky to get 11-12k for it maybe what ever parts you,ve put on it for 7k you should remove and sell or keep for the next 1? it wont make much if any difference to what your car is worth now

7k wud be what it cost to me including labour, come to think it 7k is probably more than it was.

has a sc36billet turbo
turbo back exhaust(scoobyclinic own brand)
upgraded brake discs and pads(scoobyclinic discs and mintex pads)
uprated fuel pump(walbro)
K+Ninduction kit wit turbo inlet hose(think its called typhoon)
sti spoiler
Ecutek ecu, remapped to 340bhp 360lb/ft
2 new rear shocks KYB
sti spoiler

that about it i think

sorry 1500 pounds worth of mods you have, so i would refit a second hand engine and put your mods back on it, As i dont think it would be worth a whole lot engine less.
when you said 7k i though you had an extensive mod list and i was going to buy it and refit an engine.

there worth a lot more than that brand new bud
turbo brand new is 750
exhaust is 500
induction kit was 225 i think
spoiler was 300, brakes were 600 (front and back)
not sure what fuel pump was maybe 150
all plus vat,

7k is probably misleading as it includes some oem replacement parts over the years and service costs
