misfire? HT leads?
evening gents...
So, my recently purchased scoob went for a full service at Subaru4U in Newbury, brilliant guys and done a health check as well..
all good with the scoob and very lively, so they said, happy with that..
I noticed a couple of times before taking the scoob there, and has happened again after...
sometimes when accelarating hard, it kind of coughs and splatters, i reckon its a misfire...
the guys at subaru4u said I could do with some new HT leads.... do you guys reckon this would be the cause for the misfire im having?
the car is a 2001 UK turbo classic, decat, air induction kit and not much else...
btw... if you think the problem is the HT leads, are there any recommended brands? bear in mind I dont need anything too flashy, just something that works...
cheers!

ive just had the same thing with my 94 sti..
wen pushed hard now and then it would miss fire. i thought it was one of my coil packs braking down as i have one for each plug on mine.. turns out it was blowing its sparks out,
when i took the plugs out and one of them was black, so i put my new ngk heat 6 plugs in all gaped at 0.6 and no mre problem .. checked the gaps in the old ones and 3 of them was 0.7 and the black one was 0.8...
not sure if its the same problem or not bud but worth a check

just been reading a bit about the HT leads on the forum...and there's different models, lucky me, just another thing to confuse me more...
Mine is a 2001 classic, and the coil pack is on top of the engine, the leads then go to each spark plug...
here's a pic...
Is there a specific name for the plugs required for this type, where the coil pack is mounted on top but more to the side of the inlet manifold?
