Default low fuel warning light

This may seem like a really dumb question but I have a 99 UK wagon and was wondering whether it has a fuel warning light. I've only ever once run it to empty (I normally treat 1/4 as empty so I'm not sucking up the ****) but my fuel light never came on. Am I to assume the light has gone and how could I check that?

Cheers for that tony. I'm almost tempted to run her dry just to see it come on now.
Just out of interest, is yours a UK model? What octane do you use? I've been using 97, some say its fine to run on 95 but others say it causes det - is this true even with UK models?

Ive seen it once in a UK car (MY00 which was my first scoob back in 2000 ) but you can run an unmodified one on 95 ron without issues, though running 97+ will give you better performance and MPG

The fuel question will run and run. There seems to be problems if it's an import or if it's been tuned and mapped for V-Power or Momentum. They can run funny on anything else.
I've got a blob WRX and i have run it on 95 before but it seems to run better on 97+. You chould be able to run a UK car on 95 - it's a requirement for it to be able to run on that. Doesn't mean it's a good thing.

Iv always wondered about a fuel light. Mine has never come on. I was told when the needle hit the bottom of the middle line in the E, that's about time for the light to come on. I have never got that far down in 6 years of driving it! I don't plan to bit I'm always intrigued!

Mine being an my99

I changed my dials a while back and although I was extra careful with the needles they seem to be slightly out from the factory positions. My oil temp needle falls below 0 when cold and my fuel needle reads higher than it should for what's in the tank so I can't trust the fuel gauge (hence the reason for questioning the fuel light) wish is never changed the damn dials now!
Can someone confirm that when cold the oil needle should be at 0 and not below?

Haven't seen mine come on in a 95 wagon sti if I even have a light. Ran about half into the bottom section. Usually don't let it drop below 1/4 as I'd probably struggle to make it to a petrol station

Is there a reason why Subaru have such a crap design for a fuel gauge? The 1st and final 1/4's are tiny compared to the middle 2 1/4's? Much prefer evenly spaced gauges

Says in the book 1.9 gallons so depending how you drive you could get up to 60miles
