i asked the same question a couple of weeks ago.

Walbro pump but worth changing if your modding as its getting on a bit now.
2 cats, one in the down pipe and one in the centre section, the up pipe one is deleted on the sti.

I dont believe they are proper sports cats either (not 100 cell)

Uprated pump (debadged Walbro 255) was only in the STi PPP kit and not the WRX. Beware that many PPP STi's seem to have not got the uprated pump fitted because of dealer "shortcomings" and the fact that they know the OE pump is just about OK for 300hp. If you are increasing power you must check the pump regardless. Also get the throttle scaling checked as they usually miss doing this properly as well and can result in lean running and det at full load.

Local main dealer did this to me and I had to sue them in County Court to get refund for work not done. In the end they claimed that Subaru UK supplied them with a standard pump in the kit by mistake, pull the other one.

So what your saying if the original pump on a non PPP blobeye wrx is working okay and only on 31k with just a remap, blitz cat back , 1 x rear cat removal and k+n panel filter there is no real need to remove it and replace with a Walbro model ??

The wrx ppp kept original pump so will easily flow enough for your intended target the upgrade would purely be a precautionary measure, will easily show up in mapping if any issues but i wouldn't bother changing tbh

Okay then original fuel pump dies once it been mapped whats the very worst that can happen.. or do I not want to know ??!!

just seems strange than everyone seems to want to change to the Walbro pump even on low mileage cars and yet if he poster above is correct the oe pump is good enough for up to 300 bhp ??

ideally all I want to do now before the map is decat the mid section and if I can get away without having to change the fuel pump then fine.

The standard pump is fine, the issue is it is now 7 to 5years old, when new they were good. Replacements are cheap and easy to fit.

You take the chance or change it etc

The worst if an oe failed - melted pistons.

Worst if a walbro fails - usually car wont start the first know

For £70 brand new, it's a "stage 1" no-brainer. Should be the FIRST 'engine' tuning mod on the list lol
