Try joining P1WOC if you really want a P1

AFAIK the P1 map wasn't the best in the world...........and didn't it have fuel broquets to try and help

The P1 uses exactly the same map as the JDM cars, they just have some octane enhancers in the fuel, its worth mapping them.

I owned a P1 for 3 years, sold it last July. I too had always lusted after one, dont get me wrong it was a great car and at 320bhp wasnt too slow, but to be honest if i knew now what i knew then i would of gone Type R, which is what the P1 is with all the good bits taken off. Plus P1's are getting on now they are 11 years old now and due to UK weather they are showing there age on the rear arches, front wings etc with rust. I would think more JDM if i were you, better bodywork, better condition and they are a purer drivers car.

Ive got a 98 WRX RA with a spec C sti block now and got to say i enjoy it more than i did the P1. I was constantly waxing the P1 and trying not to damage the splitter with stones etc, in the end thats why i sold it,i want a scooby to drive, not to look at.

Good luck with your choice mate, all the above just imho.

It came with ABS instead, which I have to say, would be my preferred option for UK driving

Thanks
Earlier this year I was going to go for a P1, but went Type R eventually. Few reasons...

Biggest headach was P1's that you can be happy with are pretty hard to find, the good ones are very pricey too and I think overpriced.

Basically the P1 is a V5 JDM, so will suffer all the same issues - cranks, the need to be mapped for UK fuel etc.

Type R's aren't all plain sailing though. I sold a STi R a few years as it was too manically geared. The one I have now is a '97 V4 V-Ltd WRX. This has a longer 5th (same as the RA gearing) which takes the manic edge off things.

Other good thing about the slightly earlier classics is their fun handling. See 15.43 on in this vid...

Oh, and as for the new age JDM's - they're boring compared to a well set-up early classic

He he, so a nicely modded, lighter weight Type R, with say a little over 300 BHP, is going to be super big grin factor

Type r is where its at, problem with the p1 is as above good ones are way too pricey.

I disagree with the abs comment as i don't like electronic interference when i'm driving, but i'm old school and i know some of the young un's need help to drive a mans car

V3 type r is the daddy but obviously me and mr subaru don't have a clue

p1 is a great car m8 very iconic and always turns heads theres still around 700 left now but you,l need to look at a few to find a descent 1 and now the prices have fallen theres alot of wasters buying them ragging them to death and then realising they dont have the money to keep it on the road so sell it on with problems,id look on the p1woc to see if a member is selling up as people will know the car and history 7.5k is a little low but im sure there will be a few descent 1s if you look hard enough good luck with your search and if you join the p1woc ill see you over there

Not that old vid again
He says he loved the v3 type r then he drives a standard (none dccd) v5 sti and says its boring but does the job, now when he drives the Spec C he pretty much says its perfection that sums it up in one go, buy a new age

My new age JDM was 'perfect' (04 JDM 370/360), but...

Yes, I'll punt out the old record, as you do whenever there's the classic new age challange, a monkey can drive a new age JDM super fast - 'just steer' as the vid driver says. Whereas the classic is the driver's car, and ultimately more fun
