Prices of scoobys.
As some may know that im currently saving for a blob eye scoob, well once a week i have a look on the web to see whats on the market at the mo etc etc. One thing i notice is how much the prices of these cars vary. Iv seen 53 plate blobeyes wrx with the sti spoiler and sti interior for £4600 with les then 80k miles on the clock. Then i have seen standard ones with more mils on at closer to 6k.
HAs anyone noticed this, and can anyone explain it?

Yes, some people are unrealistic with their prices whilst some are generally priced to sell.
It's a buyers Market currently for cars like the Impreza (unless seriously rare like the 22B), but some sellers refuse to accept this and look for pre-recession money for their Scoob still.

I think generally you get what you pay for
100K plus car with little history and pretty much abused for 3 to 4 k or an immaculate mint low mileage full history car for 6 plus market is all over the place tbh

I have a 2003 WRX running 334bhp, uprated suspension, droplinks, brakes, genuine sti styling 1 owner since new, 78k miles, Mint condition no car park dents etc, full service history and i would be wanting 6k
A lower milage blob eye scooby would be selling at around 7k

Prices are a bit crazy, like said above some just need gone as doing nothing and some have just been abused and not looked after. Then their are the ones that get pampered and although they dont necessarily warrant anymore people will pay for it. May get lucky and find a clean low priced one.
Still saying that their are some people advertising their cars at the moment (not on her BTW just check pistonheads!!) with no clue and easily 2-3k over priced!! Mine is a MY05 STi, sensibly modified with 73k on the clock and in good condition odd marks and even this think would go for anything between 6-8k in present market and later would imagine only on a good day which selling these types of cars sometimes few and far between!!

A quick look on Autotrader and, ruling out wagons which always fetch less and GX's done as replicas, there's a black 54-reg WRX with 91k on there today at £4400, and a black 56-reg hawkeye with 67k from a trader for £4500 too, seems quite a bargain as it's a trader but then how long's he been stuck with it. Next up is an 05 with 93k at £4700 and a trade 55-reg with 43k for £4800. To most the hawkeye is a bargain, but if it's going to be a blobeye the last one is worth the extra £400 over the first for the lower mileage in my book.
I drive a MY04 Blobeye WRX with 100k on the clock which, according to the above I should be pricing at no more than £4500. But... it's had all the mechanicals looked after properly by an independant Subaru specialist, is running Brembos, includes ten 17" STi alloys (yes, that's 2 full sets with spare wheels), has recently had the bodywork tidied up (the doors are like tin foil and dent easily) and has a carbon STi spoiler (in actual fact contrary to what they're sold as, it's a carbon wrapped fibreglass spoiler). Taking into account what it would cost you to buy and fit a set of Brembos (best part of £1000), all my alloys and the condition of my tyres (gotta be over £500), the condition of my bodywork and the new spoiler (just cost me £1000), plus the remaining tax and MOT I would want much nearer £6k for it.
But again... like has been said there are some people desperate for money who can't afford to run or insure a Scooby in the current climate, so there are proper STi's with lower miles for that sort of money to be had if you can wait for something to come along, so how could I ask it for mine. Talking of unrealistic prices, just spotted an 06-reg blobeye with 45k CAT D for £5000... why would you when you can get something that hasn't been in a smash for the same money.

If I wasn't keeping mine for the track I would be interested in one at that money, though my Scooby specialist would probably warn me off not knowing it's history and everything. I found an STi at £5500 earlier in the year and the same thing, he suggested I stick with what I've got and just tune it some more.
