Default Non-Subaru Dealer Servicing

Hi all. I've had my scooby now for 3 months and bought it from Hartwell in Grimsby who mainly specialise in Ford/Pug/Nissan etc .. Was a px I was told. Its a Hawkeye WRX 07 plate (25kmiles) and its the best thing I've ever bought.

Anyway the bloke kept on at me to spend 17quid a month on a serviceplan with them for 2 years as I had had one on my previous car which was a Ford Fiesta (bog standard car except for bodykit etc). I asked him if they woukd be able to do servicing on Subaru as it is not an area they specialise in. He went away and came back saying yes no problem.

Thing is i've been thinking about this and wonder whether its worth just ditching the serviceplan with them and using a proper dealer and specialist who know what they are doing with this particular car. I could quite easily take it to Scoobyworks in Loughorough as had bits from them.

Just wanted peoples opinion on here about how they would trust the place where I got it from to service it or whether its worth going more specialised .... And if so can anyone reccomend specialists in Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Non Subaru dealer servicing is fine just as long as they are VAT registered and use OE subaru parts. (this will maintain any main dealer warranty if you have any left)

We are just up the road from Nottingham in Chesterfield

Any question please do not hesitate to ask.

My feeling on this is simple, if you have a standard car, you can't really go wrong with a dealer service, yes there are good and bad dealers but you get that in all walks of life, if you have a modified car like mine then the chances are a dealer service wouldn't be appropriate, I can't see my local dealer knowing much about an Apexi Power FC ECU for example so for my car a more specialised company is a must.

If you're not going to use a main dealer just make sure you take your car somewhere that knows what they're doing and not Tim down the road who know's a bit about cars

It depends on the independent really. If I understand it you're paying £408 (£17 per month) over two years for what will be two services. It depends on what those services are, and what they include. You may find a Subaru Specialist is cheaper. One thing that's for sure is a Subaru specialist stamp in the service book will look better when selling.

As others have said, use a good independent specialists over a dealer, I did this with all 3 of my previous Scoobs. There are plenty of them about with good feedback on here

Thanks for the advice everyone! Might as well take it to Scoobyclinic when the time comes as its the same distance as driving it up to Grimsby!
