T25 at car auction - Did someone get a bargain??
At a car auction at the end of last week, whilst having a walk around noticed a Red Scoob over the far side. Thought it was a bit unusual as it had a roof scoop and on closer inspection noticed it was a T25.
I waited for it to go through. The auctioneer described it as an "STi which must put out 280 BHP" . Bidding started at £4500, hammer went down at £6300. With the commission & VAT that will set the buyer back @£7000.
Car had 60k miles with FSH. It needed the wheels refurbing and both bumpers required some treatment. So probably another £500-£700.
Therefore, did the buyer have a result??

if its being sold as a T25 and its not auction is liable so at that price worth a punt for definate, if it turns out to somethign other than stated (so alot less value) you can get yoru money back.
at that low cost does sound like somethings amiss or as you say, bargin

I suspect the buyer knew exactly what HE was looking at and I still think he had a result

Had a good shifty around it, but didn't get a chance look under the bonnet/check the suspension.
But the listing clearly stated that it was a T25 and I don't have any reason to disbelieve how it was described

Think the one on piston heads is a mk2 hawk one, if it was a t25 spec c at auction was a bargain as long as ok mechanically think the mk1s were standard bottom end and not the best but still a good buy

Did it have :
1/ 'gold wheels' in the corners of the rear parcel shelf just behind the rear passengers heads ... if so .. that is a sign of AST suspension .. std on T25s I believe.
2/ front splitter
3/ T25 badge on at least the boot (poss sides and fog lights too)

2/ True, but not exclusive to T25s
3/ Wont necessarily have the T25 badges. I opted not to have them on mine, though it does have the plaque on the ash tray cover and inside the engine bay.
