Why do impreza owners pay more
Why is it that anything to do with an impreza ,be it tuning parts handling mods ,body mods or insurance ,on a whole is dearer than a similar hp performance and size cars of different makes with a few exceptions on a whole parts seem to range between 10- 40% dearer
Or is that just me

I have to agree with Hoyty there, we do a hell of alot of trade on the MLR and tune alot of Evo's, I can't say every part is more expensive but I do seem to be able to get hold of cheaper parts for the Evo's, I think that's mainly because there does seem to be a far wider range of parts available from manufacturers for Evo's, more competition, lower prices.
I was talking about this with our SFS rep just the other day funnily enough.

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this I've has a 200sx and 300zx which I tuned and found the parts a lot cheaper
Perhaps as Scooby owners we love our cars so much we don't question what we pay and readerly pay we do and as long as we do why would manufacturers lower prices

I guess because they are not as common as other cars?....therefore parts are probably not massed produced in the same quantities as it would be for a saxo or a peugeot...
same applies to 4x4s (that's where my experience is, im new to scoobies)
You look at parts, replacement or off road upgrades for a Land Rover Defender 90 or 110.. and they are cheap as chips.
you look into the same for a Suzuki or a Jeep and you pay a load more and there isnt as many parts available.
For example, a propshaft for a Def 90, with UJs and everything cost about £80, you look at the same for a Jeep and its around £200..

Insurance - Imprezas carry HORRENDOUS claims/loss ratios.. they are crashed, stolen, broken into and vandalised often.. more often than similar vehicles.
If you think Imprezas are bad, dont buy a Skyline!

I have to agree on this and made the mistake of jumping in at the deep end when buying an impreza
I spent the last 7 years buying and modifying Mazda MX6's (2.5 v6, uk and import) and theyre cheap as chips to buy and mod compared to an Impreza.
Considering how rare they are, the parts are rediculously cheap as the running gear/brakes/suspension/engine is shared with the Ford Probe. An ebay search usually turns up about 6000 MX6 items, Impreza turns up 90000!!
You'd think that with there being that many Imprezas out there the parts/mods/tuning etc would be reasonable value but there does seem to be an "impreza premium" to be paid on everything.
I'm used to it now, it just takes me longer to save for something but it does grind on me a little when I see something thats had a price hike just because it fits an impreza.

You want to try tuning an Italian car, the tuning parts you can get are ridiculous price and very limited which means alot of stuff has to be made bespoke.
I seem to remember bits for my Evo being dearer as well, but maybe thats just my age!
