Default I'm just nipping out, to Plymouth !

Yes, all 330 miles of it ! ( And 330 miles back again ! ).

Dunx is finally going to Plymouth to collect his 2.1 stroker...

Diesel is in the van, driver is coffee'd up to the eyeballs.

So I'm looking forward to a pastie for breakfast !

Typically, I have a day off, which happens about as often as Rowan Atkinson crashes his McLaren. My family are wondering why the strange man is wandering about the house during daylight hours.
Martyn's on the case, no doubt feeding the man dodgy Cornish product, along with our usual Tetley tea. I'll spend the whole day fretting as usual.

After a rare easy Thursday at work, I received a PM from AJ saying "See you Saturday ! it's ready !".

So I bleated, need it now, I'm on my way

I fuelled the van and was ready to hit the M1 at 1 AM., drove there at a sensible 65-70 mph in 5.5 hours with a 5 second nap ( ON THE M5 ! ) and one coffee break near Exeter arriving at 6:30 am.

I love night driving on the motorway network, when it's almost empty...

Contrast to an 8 hour crawl back averaging less than 50 mph and 42 mpg. To arrive home at 8:30 PM. after a coffee break near Bristol in one of the (many) accident tail-backs.

I was greeted by Martin, who kindly fed me stories and coffee till my cam covers dried fully then after some pastie purchasing... the 2.1 stroker was then shrink-wrapped and pallet'd up, then lifted into the van...

Spec. is top secret, but includes cosworth, blah, Lateral blah, blah, and the usual headwork. To aim is to push towards 500 bhp once fitted, but that needs a better ecu, IMHO. Some full fat torque, for me, and some actual boost control for the engine will help keep it healthy for the next nine years ( ? ).

Pictures to follow once unwrapped.

Sleepy dunx

P.S. Not as disturbing as for your staff, wondering who the strange Northerner was wandering round with eyes like saucers....

P.P.S. The usual massive thanks to Martin, and Alan for his endless messages to confirm spec., guide the fool in spending his money wisely, and to all his staff for their care and effort. It looks too nice to get grubby in a car.

P.S. Once Bigarf has wielded his heaviest lump hammer it will be wiring and plumbing time !

P.P.S. The grin will come once the fatigue wears off, I hope !

lol it's okay - I didn't realise you were COLLECTING an engine!

I assumed your car was there being modded - hence my enquiry

With friends like Arthur ( Daley ) Carter on the job, it was in by tea time !

Exedy twin plate upgrade is in as well...

Enginetuner aren't blessed with limitless space for storing cars, and it would have been way more expensive in travel costs to deliver it.

I will have to consider a swirl pot/pump combo before she's fit and mapped to the 2 bar level my std. engine was subjected to...

I was dog tired yesterday, but it's just wires and pipes now, could be running on Monday, late Sunday evening ? ? ? I'm finally starting to get excited at having my car back soon, after six weeks cycling !

P.S. Sleepy still and forgot to pick up my camera so Bigarf has taken a couple of shots in the shed.

AHH ! Yes saw yours sat in the main workshop - I hope the forklift placed that Evo on it's roof carefully...

It took a year...
I paid a deposit and Bigarf delivered the heads in June 2010... but I wasn't in a rush, and a pal wanted a forged 2.5 building so I said leave mine till after that build.

Then AJ had a couple of BIG money builds to sort... and then about three months ago mine started to sound rougher than normal..

So Alan arranged collection and the rebuild took around eight weeks.

dunx

P.S. Arf the dog probably would have loved your tea... but please stay out of the shed for your sake, or she'll kill you.
