Default auto air con help.

on the newer 05 blobeyes and hawkeyes when you have the first two dials set to auto and the temperature dial on a cool temperature should the aircon turn on and off on its own or do you have to press the button on and off yourself?
im only asking this as i want to know if the auto part is working correctly on mine.

on my hawk sti the temperature dial has to be held in for a few seconds until the light flashes, to show that climate control is activated.

semi-auto
each function can be individually set to AUTO mode independently of the others,
Any function set to AUTO mode is controlled automatically.
Any function not set to AUTO mode can be manually adjusted as desired
the temp can be set within a range of 20 to 30c

this is all new to me and ive had the car 6 months
