Angry Kwik Fit!

Great price on the MOT today, car was "clean as a whistle". Nice.

Driving back up the A30 - luckily slow moving rush hour traffic - I notice my bonnet lifting up and down. The buggers didn't bleeding shut the bonnet!

I can't believe that people actually pay the prices they charge for tyres.
Eagle F1 - £123 per corner or £160 fitted.

My only experience of Kwik Fit was when I had a company car and had to use them for tyres, I tried three different outlets, every time I'd be there for a good 2 hours irrespective of how many people there were ahead of me, had they been named "Quick Fit" I'd have taken them to court for false advertising!

Hmm, never really had a bad experience with them

Go in to the right branch and I usually get seen straight away and they can always source a tyre for me in a few hours

You do have to pay through the nose for it though

i worked in a few, many years back.

apart from the forced sales, they did all jobs properly.

i still use them for small "homers"

seen many many small garages do lots worse than them tbh.

lets be honest the scooby "specialists" from birmingham i think? with the youtube vid of them kicking fck out of customers cars ect.

think i know where id rather take my scooby.

btw not that id ever let them near my subaru - like i say small homers - ie fitting tyres, or exhaust gaskets, thats about it

saw too many days of wire brush and wd40 wheeel alignments lol

I always remember when a mates mum came home one day and told us that she had just been there and had to have 4 new tyres, ended up selling her some really good quality tyres, sort of thing you'd put on an M3/RS4, not quite sure she needed them on her 1.8 Vectra, cost her £800 also IIRC!

Saying that though I did ask the lad at my local one to measure my tyre depth and he did so and sent me on my way and told me I had a while yet before I needed new rubber, so I guess there are good and bad, depends how lucky you are!

I use my local one for MOT's. £35 if you book on line. Used them twice so far and not had a problem. For tyres though, they are fecking expensive. That is you HAGGLE the **** out of them.

Be warned; It may happen again! Imprezas have a nasty habit of popping their bonnet when driving, usually after being opened/closed earlier and 'looking' shut.

Basically its usually due to the mechanism getting gummed up with grease and dirt, needs to be removed, degreased/scrubbed clean and re-oiled

Mine has done it, and even though it moves an inch, it is so pronounced and scary with it. I was advised to clean the mechanism on every service.

My 1 and only experience with Kwik Fit. I mentioned mine had spacers on all 4 wheels, please make sure they all go back on as they came off and of course they put 2 of the spacers on one of the fronts which resulted in it working loose and nearly coming off. Went back ready to insert a spacer into the anus of said 'mechanic' to be told, well they were all torqued up mate. Which firstly doesnt make much difference if the nuts arent fully on the threads and secondly they didnt torque up the nuts anyway! Got it sorted FOC after I mentioned the point that I could of died and I know a very good lawyer. Fackin tools.

I've always found them good for a quick fix. I've more positive stories about them than I do about some 'specialist' garages mentioned on here!

Agree Kwik fit are master tools...took the wifes astra there for an oil change and new back box.
Back box hammered off and damaged centre section joint..no biggy just fitted new clip and paste...but they some how forgot to change the oil but charged me anyway...wtf.
Pointed it out to the manager and he told me new oil goes black after a few miles...told him I hadn't even started the car it was still in the carpark and that the oil filter had dirty, water/stains all over it...(dried on).
He still argued the toss untill I told him i'm an Engineer,(albeit Electrical) and that I have never seen clean oil that colour and smell.

Eventually he relented changed oil and filter and said that he thought the car was in for a Top-up....that's why you charged me £35????
Oil+filter (eventualy) changed for free....

NEVER GOING TO USE THEM AGAIN.....(Stevenage depot)

I drive past one a lot and it always worries me the look in their cross eyes when they think I might be taking mine in. They all scurry dragging knuckles and hammers to see if I am going to the victim service carpark.
