My tyres are wearing out so I'm eyeing up the replacements.

I'm currently running Ultrac sessanta which I'm I've been really pleased with but they have lasted less than 10K miles. I'm tempted to replace them with the same again but my boss has been raving about the falken FK452's that he's put on his BMW 330d.

Has anyone tried the 452's on an impreza? My engine is standard hawk WRX but I have the usual suspension mods, I don't do track days and the car is my daily drive doing about 250 miles a week.

im currently running them done 2 trackdays and there fine i would put them on par with my old goodyear f1`s without the silly price

theres several people at my work who now use then on all sorts of cars and i keep hearing nothing but good feedback

I used Falken 452 in 17" and 16" on my Type R and found that the 16" for some reason aren't as good as the 17" (although still bloody excellent) so if you have the bigger than 16" give them a go.

Got the 452 in 18 inch on mine very good value at 69.95 each from camskill cant fault them on the road

had falken 912's fitted for about 4 months.
highly recommended in the wet and dry, not overly loud and grips like anything in the dry.
also had them nitrogen filled rather than air filled would recommend getting that done as well, bit expensive at £1.00 a tyre but you dont have to check them every week and with the price the garage's are charging to use the air latey it is a cheaper option. been averaging 300 mile per full tank since changing tyres.
had them supplied and fitted for £280 from a dealer in redditch.
previously had yoko's and ultrac centro's and they are better than both of those.

I think your going to end up disappointed tbh, if the falkens compare with the F1's then your going to hate them going from the Sessanta's.

Out of interest, have you ever had a set of falkens?

I have had f1 and toyo and now have the falken 452 and they are better than both, they kick the crap out of the toyo in particular.

Agreed with Toy T1R,these has been most horrible,F1 don't tried,now have Kumho which are OK,but in wet conditions are not the best.

I'm considering Federal 595 RS-R or Falken FK452,but VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA have good reports,not sure which one

Just fitted a set of FK452's on mine and have to say initial impresion is very good although I've only done about 20 miles on them in the dry.Low road noise and seem to be quite comfortable,especially as I'm on coilovers that are set up quite low and hard.Plenty of feedback from the tyre when I turn into a corner,unlike the T1R's that were previously fitted.

The T1R's were too hard and didn't soak up bumps,potholes etc.,just seemed to smash straight into them.Had great grip in the dry but wasn't that thrilled with them in the wet,gave me quite a few brown trouser moments!

Only time will tell as to how the FK452's perform in the long run but so far

Can't fault the 452's either - had them on my scoob for over a year. Done about 15k on them plus a trackday at Brands and two trips to the Ring (8 laps). Good in the wet, good in the dry.

There are better tyres out there for sure, but nothing as good value imo.

There was a thread a while back and someone said that the falken comes out as one of the best if not the best all round tyre in some well respected test year after year, which is why i bought them.

They are also well respected in japan and very popular there.

sorry for being a bit vague.

And i'm sure there are better tyres out there, but i think you will find they cost near double what the falkens cost so they should be better, but it does depend what you expect from a tyre and on your driving style.

They grip really well under hard breaking and acceleration and are much grippier than the f1 in the dry and require a lot more effort to make them loose traction so much so that i wait until it's damp before i try to get it sliding,where as the f1 would easily break away and the toyo are crap for a long list of reasons on a classic.

But toyo are a little better on a new age than on a classic as i think the extra weight makes them more compliant.

Don't know about the sessants, but i bet a lot of the people that are raving about them either had toyo or f1 previously.

They do get good reviews though so i'm sure they are good, but it is all relative to what you had before.

Toyos are spot on on my classic and I ran them on my newage at snetterton 300 and they were equally good

Pressures are key, minimum 37f 35r. You can throw the car everywhere, sideways, the Toyos are fantastic IMHO.

I run the Vreddys as well and they are very good in the wet but possibly not as good in the dry as the toyos

Lol my point exactly toyos = no grip so the vreddys must be awfull by your measure..

But like i said it depends what you want from a tyre..

P.s dont you find that the toyo really snap back at you at the point they regain traction?

Vreddy are miles better than t1r's... I could wheel spin in 1st 2nd and 3rd in the wet with t1r's

T1R's are poor in the wet, although Budgie had them at Brands in terrible rain and he wasn't exactly going slow lol Vreddy's are a better all round tyre but in the dry the T1R's on the classic I find spot on. I don't find they snap, I like my pressures high and they slide lovely

My Sessantas have done more than 10k and have got loads of life left in them and I am running 450 bhp . I don't drive like a lunatic but I certainly don't drive like miss daisy either .

My alignment was checked when I fitted the tyres. It's only the fronts that haven't worn quite evenly to be honest but they do have some negative camber so it's to be expected. The rears are worn completely level.

I'm going to have a bash with the Flakens and see how they go.

With a well set up chassis I find that the Toyos seem to have a mismatch between sidewall and tread. It feels like when turning in, the sidewall was initially too stiff but then immediately after it seemed like the tyre wall would ‘collapse’. It also feels like the tread folds under side load, making the slip angle unpredictable. I wont be going for another set

Cool, they do work well with higher pressures. On track they get very hot and squirm but thats a complaint of road tyres in general rather than just the toyos
