there are a couple of ways of doing it i opted for the easy option of leaving the lights in place and just carefully snapping the amber bulb out with some long nosed plyiers worked a treat hope this helps

I tried that, got one side done fine. On the other the bloody thing refused to break. Ended up cracking the inner so be careful if you do go down this route, especially if your clumsy as I was that day!
In the end I went down the oven baking route with a little garlic and rosemary and worked fine. Have now changed them to sti lights so the whole exercise ended up being a tad pointless
