Default New law in lincolnshire (or just sunny sleaford?)

Hi all anyone heard of a new law about no aftermarket exhaust modifications?

I live in sleaford, lincolnshire and got stopped by a copper and told that theres a new law so you can't have any exhaust mods but he didnt do me or tell me to take it off?

I cant see how they can enforce this as there all road legal make and it would put so many companys out of business, etc

Maybe there just trying to scare all the boyracers into stop putting them 1ltr saxos etc

Agree unless he can state which law and have proof he hasn't a chance just a way of checking you are all in order or otherwise victimisation !

not sure about a new law but strictly speaking if there are no manufacturer marks on the exhaust they can issue with a notice to get the OE system put back on and retested at an MOT station to prove you have complied...common issue with bikes and very load cans, which is a pita as there is no guidelines around actual dB rating its all down to the 'opinion' of old bill.

Also best not to push the situation with them, as they may startbeing ****.."!

They could have you, if you have not declared your exhaust as an aftermarket one on your insurance!

as far as i know there is a EU law on new cars which after market exhausts cant be louder than what the car came with as standard.
For older cars i dont think there is a fixed level, unlike motorbikes

my thoughts exactly. It might be a statute (act of parliment) coming in but statute is not law

If that's the case, then I sincerely hope they do.

Why people bother even getting insurance if they're just going to hide mods is beyond me.

Motorcycle exhausts have to have a kite mark or EU mark on them to make them legal. I don't think there is any such law regarding car exhausts. Be pretty hard to locate a kite mark on a car exhaust lol.

Copper is full of ****
