nurburgring questions
#1
Chaps,
I am intending to do the Nurburgring with a few mates this year. As some of you have already been then maybe you could answer the following.
1/ what ws the total cost including petrol?
2/ what was the wear & tear on your motor (tyres brake pads, clutch etc..)?
3/ Are there any unlimited Autobahns nearby that I can have a pop at the Cossie's top end?
4/ whats the score with emergency equipment that you have to have?
Any info would be appreciated.
Regards,
astraboy.

Petrol costs, depends on how many laps you do but your looking at around 1000 miles round trip, plus laps on the ring. On an mpg basis I'd say round the ring would be slightly better than a normal track.
I only did a few laps and had very little wear and tear, brakes wise , there are only 2 or 3 big stops on a 13 mile lap so on average less wear per mile than a UK track, (which would have at least 1 big stop, on a say 2 mile lap. Clutch no wear. Tyres, hard to say, but you can't run slicks, as it is a public road (traffic laws apply)
Only emergency equipment required is what you normally need in Germany. IIRC warning triangle, first aid kit?, and spare bulbs.
Helmet is NOT required, firmly suggest you wear one though.
no idea about Autobahns, worth a look at

1000 mile round trip! That'll be just under 90 quids worth of diesel then! It'll be interesting to see what kind of mpg the Beemer gets round the Ring. Low 20's I imagine! ROFLMAO So what does a Scooby Do?
The whole trip, if I was doing it on my own would cost approx. 500 pounds ( having to write "pounds" as my keyboard doesn't have the symbol! Splitting the travelling costs 3 ways is going to help immensely.

Cheers chaps, When the people go over there, pace notes of the circuit might be useful. Don't know about anyone else, but trying to memorise 14 miles and 156 turns whilst thrashing a chipped cossie is not something I'm looking forward to.

LOL!!!! I take it you have absolutely no idea who I am then?
Let's just say that when I said I'll be thrashing Cossies at The Ring, I didn't mean I'd be driving them!!!
