On a bugeye rather than classic - my mot tester said it's quite tight, but always passed.

I've got a H&S sport cat downpipe only and mine failed the first MOT. Not had a drama since the garage just needs to make sure the car is warmed up properly first. From cold it will fail!

No mate, not heat wrapped. I don't imagine wrapping will make much difference from an MOT point of view other than it will probably warm up a bit quicker.

Never failed, not really warmed up or cleared after being parked up either

Wrapped, would always buy H&S, despite the cost

Always a good idea to wrap down-pipe even if it's a decat as it keeps the temps down under the bonnet.

You need to tap in a spark plug, just before the cat, so as to get the gasses REALLY hot - that should do it!

I feel sorry for all the other SNetters, for having to put up with it after all this time.

Aye, prior to mOT take the car for a blast around some back road to get her nice and hot. Helps with the emissions.

All sorted.

I had the 45k cambelt service at API a couple of Fridays ago, as it happens. I decided to have absolutely everythting done on the schedule... Inc. a brand spanking new set of PFR7B's.

spec is this..(bear in mind im trying to save my standard gearbox(752) from breaking.

jdm 2004 short block.(29k) fully stripped,cleaned and rebuilt.(as new)
sti 4 jdm type r heads,same again,cleaned,rebuilt,skimmed etc.(as new)
new gaskets throughout.new seals etc etc.
h&s sports cat downpipe
440cc inj
h&s backbox
oe centre section
oe headers
vf24 turbo
walbro pump
oe tmic
apexi power fc ecu.
pfr7b plugs

motor will be good for a safe 400/400
but going to map to 300.
maybe at a later date i will be able to up the power by changing gearbox, turbo, injectors, front mount.
just looking forward to having the car back now as its been off the road quite a while.
the close ratio dccd box will hopefully hold out at that power as i wont have the funds to upgrade.(not yet anyway)

atleast the motor will be good if i do go for 400bhp in the future.

You'll be 'unlucky' if the box breaks at 300 (or indeed the VF24's capabilities). But it's not a definite of course.

What's your driving style - a raving, launching lunatic, per chance?
