Default Hawkeye PPP Question

Hey guys,

I have done the searches before anyone asks!

But the results varied a lot, and I am after definitive answers.

The 2006-7 STi PPP consists of:

ECU Swap
Panel Filter
Rear Silencer
And now the puzzler.... Is the 2nd cat removed completely..or is it replaced with a prodrive sports high flow 100cell cat?
Is the downpipe replaced?
The centre section with resonator...is that removed?

Ive had so many different results from searching the forums im left wondering what is true and what isnt!!

Exhaust wise down pipe and second cat remain standard, resonated section and back box changed. The fuel pump is also changed.

Ok, this is for real? I've heard that the 2nd cat gets either deleted or gets a sports cat! Is the resonated section replaced with just a straight pipe?

No some of this is not correct. The 2nd cat is in fact removed. I do agree though there are many conflicting reports about what is included and what is not. Subaru and Prodrive do not give definitive info which isn't helpful when you need to get the car insured. Prodrive's PDF document is far too basic and does not go into detail.

From my investigation the PPP consists of (and has been backed up by most specialists who have actually seen the mods in person) are:

- upgraded Walbro fuel pump

- Prodrive backbox

- Removal of 2nd smaller cat on the mid-pipe (section just after the downpipe and before main centre section) and replaced with a straight through section (with or without a resonator/silencer I'm not sure - tbc)

- Standard ecu has been remapped with an "off-the shelf" generic map (it is not custom).

The Hawkeye's up-pipe (section before the turbo) is catless but this is the same on all non-prodrive hawkeyes too.

The panel air filter remains standard. The centre main resonated exhaust section (which connects to backbox) remains standard. A sports cat was only used in earlier models before the hawkeye.

Hope this helps.

I can confirm that with a 2006-2007 prodrive pack all you get is a 2nd cat bypass, back box and prodrive map, thats it

No fuel pump.
No air filter.
No sports cat.

The down pipe cat on a hawkeye is quite high flow so they left it in.

The cost of a ppp was £1700, which could be done now for £400 if you dont mind having a second hand back box.

A high flow fuel pump is one of the few things Prodrive does mention is included in the PPP in their PDF spec sheet. Plus I can hear it each time I apply gas, just a very faint almost inaudible "shrill" whine in background.

OK didn't realise they changed the fuel pump, I don't know why as they didn't need to, standard pump is good for up 360-380 bhp.

With regards to the fuel pump they only change them on a WRX, no need to on the STI..

I dont have definitive proof about the fuel pump as I've never looked (not sure I could easily) although Im only going by Prodrive's PDF spec sheet (in post further above) for the STI which says it has an upgraded fuel pump which is a bonus.

The only part which is a grey area and yet to be confirmed IMO is whether the straight through pipe which removed the 2nd cat, is fully straight through or whether it has a resonator/silencer on it.

To add to the confusion a blue silicon prodrive y pipe on the intercooler and AFAIK straight through 2nd de cat pipe, prodrive back box and a new ecu.

Hi mate on my car the second cat has been removed, so now i only have one cat in the downpipe, the centre section is one pipe all the way to the back box. see if your local garage will put it on the ramps for you will only take 5 mins to check... give them a fiver for a pint...job done

As already said, on a Hawkeye STI prodrive was:

Backbox
delete 2nd cat
Generic prodrive remap.

On the WRX you also got a fuel pump. On the STI the standard fule pump is good for late 300's. There were no new pipes in blue as on much earlier models.

There was no need for a sports cat in the downpipe as the standard one was good enough and I also heard that they actually wanted to 'reign in ' the power so it was reliable.

I picked up a brand new Prodrive oval silencer just like this

http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulle...t-dsc01403.jpg

What I noticed while on the ramp though is that the mid section has a split near the flange, so im planning to get the H&S Non Res centre section to replace it, ive already noticed a nice note off the Prodrive exhaust and it sounds sweet, could be a little louder though, not by much. Wonder if the centre section will make much of a difference.

Im thinking the decat of the 2nd cat will up the note a bit, followed by an Andy Forrest remap. Should get us into the 320 zone? sitting at 296 at the moment.

I can confirm the 2nd cat delete pipe has a small sports straight through silencer in it on the 2007 sti ppp as I bought a used one as it happens to be the same length as the similar section on my my05 jdm sti so I used it in order to get all of my exhaust stainless. But the full package on 2007 sti would be fuel pump, backbox, 2nd cat delete pipe and a generic map applied to the ecu. Not a lot for your money but it did keep tha warranty people happy.
