Default Performance car parts - cornwall ??

Have been looking at a car for sale locally which is advertised as having been fitted with a reconditioned engine from Performance car parts in cornwall at a cost off £1000, engine is said to have come out off a 2004 car and had 73k on the clock. fitting off the engine again was said to have cost £500.

so okay first off all Performance car parts off cornwall - anyone head off them / know much about them ?? would a reconditioned engine have cost around 1k ?? and fitting another £500 ??

lastly, in real terms are engines that have been reconditioned actually that much more reliable ie. does much get done to them apart from a change off oil / filter and a quick steam clean ??!!

Recon engine should mean strip down, new bearing and rings etc but doubt thats been done properly for £1000.

Put it this way, a genuine Subaru gasket kit, and we wouldn't use anything else, costs £484. Doesn't leave much change from £1000 does it?

I'd personally never buy a car with a "reconditioned engine" unless it was "reconditioned " by Lateral, RCM, Enginetuner, APi or other well known independant ...........

2 much of a gamble buying that type of car, could be a great car could be a whole load of trouble, better buying one that you know some history on.
Good luck with the hunt, take yer time, decent ones always come up when you dont expect them lol
