Unhappy impreza prices

Hi guys, i have looked at selling my 94 near standard wrx ra, and im really surprised at how little they are selling for. I was offered £1500 the only offer after 7 days !!! Whats going on?

Is it worth more I dont want to sell it but the car only drives for 2 days a week and i dont have a garage.

The **** has falling out of selling Imprezas espcially the older classics....ive seen quite a few RA's for under 2k in recent months so in the sight of things 1500 probably isnt a bad price.

Its a real shame, i will not break it tho. its got a hks 409 exhaust and 3" down pipe from turbo and original block and gearbox. Why is the market so low for these yet other marques of similar spec do so well??

Because in all honestly Imprezas are 2 a penny compared to other marquees. Then throw in fuel, insurance and maintenance costs, all that adds to the low resale prices they have sucummed to over the last few years.

I feel that the market is close to bottoming out though because so many are getting broken and it's making good ones harder to find! Mine is an early classic without a facelift and I find that they are getting rare, I drove nearly 400 miles today and didn't see one! Personally I'd hold on to it, they will go up, it's just a matter of when.

Cars like these are hobby cars only now. Just keep it, like most it's probably worth more as scrap metal and parts.

I just bought a P1 for £7k and even though I know I'd struggle to sell it for that now, only a months later I'm still putting another £4k into it.

Impreza = Money pit = Loads of fun

Personally i would just run it into the ground, If you can afford the petrol then just use it everyday, Maintenence is not exactly expensive on scoobys, I pay more for parts on our everyday cars(Fiat, Ford Renault etc) then I have on a scoob, and parts are available on here pretty cheap most of the time if you replace with standard parts.

£1,500 is shocking, but think what other car you could get for that, Nothing springs to mind unless it has a Rover badge on the front bonnet.

They are no more common than any other performance motor. The cost of fuel is driving down the overall price of performance cars full stop.

I'm surprised the price hasn't gone down even more with so many imports, but it won't be long before levels out, then goes back up.

Back up? sorry had to laugh at that
Expensive to run, expensive to fix, wont go back up as they are old and are breaking down more and more, lots of sheds out there and an influx of imports has killed the subaru market in the UK.
Only the deluded will think the price will rise, the rest know its just another car in the market

There was a S reg turbo with 120k miles on for £900 near my office on a private sale

They will be £800 soon as the Market gets even more depressed
Petrol and insurance and parts and specialist servicing is taken It's toll on old classics

And bug eyes are creeping down to the 2k mark now although higher. RFl on 2001 will hammer then shortly

The chavs that can afford 1500 price points will be put off with insurance and will fo for corsa ,saxos etc and mod them up with stick on tat from. halfrauds

Break them up for parts or keep hold and run into the ground until they blow up or put them in a carpeted garage for a few years and run them as classics when they are 25 years old
My classic is 11 years old now since new and lives in the garage and comes out for a polish and short drive now and then

Imports won't as much as theres to many, and more exspensive on insurance. As the uk versions go down in number like any car, then they will go up in price. I've seen it happen to lots of cars and seen as the classic is the most sort after of all imprezas it will go up. Just going take abit

I was looking to sell mine and get a hawk but it seems that it's better to just run it into the ground since it's nearly got 95k miles on it now.

If its under 100k its not bad anything over 100k seems to put people off and drop the price

I was looking for a cheap hatchback to throw the bike into now and again and a 15 mway commute. Looked at loads of different cars but plumped for a £1.5k my99 100k uk wagon with full black leather.
There's a lot of dreamers out there who think their standard miley classic is worth 3 or even 4k. It just won't sell.

Two wrong statements.

Insurance is not more expensive, shop around and you'll be surprised.

Have a look on Pistonheads how many Ford/Vauxhall/VW "Poorformance Cars" are for sale.

Subaru and Mitsubushi sold and continue to sell far less than most marques. They are rarer than Focus ST's/ASTRA VXR's/Golf GTi's.

JDM import cars will dry up soon as the Yen rate is killing the trade. All Jap mainland made cars are going up above inflation. Have a look at GTR's new, compared to two years ago .

Personally I think that low mileage original special editions (like the RA's, 555's, RB5's etc) will become quite sought after in time and the value of them will reflect this. The Billy basic UK turbo's or WRX's will never demand a high price unless ofcourse they are in completely original condition and done crazy low mileage.
The problem being is that classic imprezas are now soooooo bloody cheap the Joe bloggs from housing association road can now afford to buy them. And in turn, wreck them.

Yep, if anyone buys a Scoob as an investment they want their head examined. I own a MY00 UK Turbo with less than 50K on the clock and it is pretty much immaculate. If I put it on the market I reckon £2 - 2.5K would be about all I could reasonably expect for it. It's just the way the market has gone. Drive them, enjoy them, but don't expect to get much for them if you sell them.

i think that sometimes its what the buyer is willing to pay,i put my vr6 up for sale at 1700 and didnt have many offers for a few weeks, then a guy said he would give me 1350 which i was going to take but he stiched me up.then a few days later another guy rang and came and viewed it and i sold it for 1600.just takes a bit of time with people loosing jobs and pay cuts etc.

the way i see it two things are happening:
1. People are feeling the squeeze at the moment through lay-offs, cuts etc. New car sales have been propped up by scrappage scheme but used car sales are suffering. That will sort itself out with time though.
2. You cannot under-estimate the effect of over-priced fuel on car buyers. What was £25-£30 a week on fuel is now £50-£60 a week on fuel and that is gonna put a lot of people off.

And stick graphics on them, and a VTA chump valve, and lexus lights... oh and then hide behind the **** poor excuse "I'm making it different".

In that case then I shall go outside wearing my 97p Primark boxer shorts outside my jeans, because sir I wish to be different from the crowd

Anyone thinking the value of these cars will go back up is on another planet.

as long as fuel is going up and insurance too. the price is these cars will continue to fall.

unless your selling a blobeye STi onwards you can ask whatever you like.. 2003 £8-9k??

seen a MY03 black blob STi on go on ebay for £5,200 last week,. this is reality! and these are bad times for imprezas.
