Seems to me it's a great time to buy a classic and depreciation is not all that bad. I paid £4500 for my my99 uk turbo in 2005 and just turned down £2000 for it, 124k on the clock and gave me no trouble ever.

A 4.5k golf 1.8t or the 318ti I was looking at alongside the uk turbo at the time are both now starting to hit the cars £1000 and under sections = resale value of my uk seems great to me?

So pleased I just brought a ver 4 sti for 3.3k from a local owner to me and am very pleased with it. If the price drops the same as the uk did in 6 years time it should still be worth 2k? That's great news no?

While the classic does have a bad image nowdays, a nice example is still the same awesome car it was. Mr barry bwoy sound sytem banger who's parked next to me with his bredrins to inform me, in case I didn't know already that my car is a "big whip" "phat" "Hench bled".............................

He just makes mine seem so much nicer, and we all love to hear how they got 500bhp bled with teh turbo turned down init on their stock turbo 2000 got nitro fam and a k&n though so good for an extra 300bhp with the dumpvalve

The only models that maybe dropping faster are the newer ones, this can be said for all newer petrol cars. and anything good on fuel is going up in price regardless of age
Not wrong but factually correct.

If you had read my post it says "shop around and you may be surprised". So try shopping round before you put up your statement.

"The insurance was alot higher for the import, some insurance companys would not even touch the import. As spares are more exspensive i've been told."

. Again, your not reading what I have said and are quoting a third party with the comment "so I have been told." Many JDM and EDM parts are interchangable so how can they be more expensive?

Admittedly the UK low powered cars are Gp 17 and JDM cars Gp 20. But I stand by my statment "shop around" and don't believe everything you are told..

By the way I am now on my 6th Scoob having done 3 UK cars, a MY 04 JDM 2.0l Twin Scroll Spec B GT WR Ltd Legacy, 04 Foggy STi and now a V5 Classic STi. Never had an issue with Insurance and found the quote the same or cheaper for the JDM cars.

You live in Queen's (Caia) Park ? Perhaps that's why your quotes are pants .

just sold a 2002 sti for 3k,,granted it had a 5 speed not the 6 but i would of thought it was worth a bit more than that being a clean prodrive edition

ill prob never sell my blob as after spending nearly 60k on it i dont think id even come close to the original sale price when i got it as a standerd wrx,,,,,,,even with all the mods id prob only get around 10-15k depending on if i could find the right person to buy it

still at least there are alot being broke so after market parts are getting cheaper to buy

Guy at insurance place told me bout parts being harder to get, you know what insurance companys are like, they will go straght to body shops and bodys shops will use any excuse to charge them a fortune.

I've always shopped around for insurance hence what i've concluded, live it a very cheap area to be honest.

lol if i lived there, my car would have been stripped for parts by now lad
