This belongs to a new customer, who wondered why his engine was noisy..
Correct valves, but the wrong springs and caps. The caps are from an Evo engine! The shims don't fit, and were just rattling around in there..
That's what it should have had.
And, these two pistons came out of the same engine!
Apparently the engine was built by a "specialist"

I can't say who did that, as there's court action going on, but it isn't from any business who frequents SN!

What this tells me is what I already knew - most engines will run given the most dire of environments!!
Engines haven't changed much for 100 years .... not the basic running part. The fueling and electronics have changed beyond all comparison - but the basic building blocks are pretty simple and reliable!

Does anyone remember 'Cades Garage' in Car Mechanics ... through the 1970's? I used to really enjoy reading about the garage owners exploits and customers.

Maybe it was an Evo specialist
Actually its just remined me I have an odd exhaust valve in my Land Rover....
Seven are wasted stem the eighth one isn't....Who did that? Erm, me. One went missing and I wanted to get the engine back together and in the car pronto ...it was a £150 rebuild afterall (shells, rings n' seals, nowt else )
