wagon v saloon

i have a WRX 94 saloon and am tempted to swap to a STI wagon late model , but old shape.
What are they like are they as quick as a standard equivalent STI, do they handle as well or better
As i am getting older , the wagons appear more mature , family orientated !

I bought a MY99 wagon last september.
The book figures for the std saloon vs wagon are pretty much the same. 0-60 identical, with the top end on the wagon being slightly less. It's great fun pulling away from 'little pretender sports cars' in an estate ;-) I love my wagon ... especially the long refelection in shop windows.
As for load space, being able to put the seats forawrd and pile stuff up is great. I used to own a Vauxhall Carlton which had a boot you could get lost in, but the wagon's boot is not bad at all.

The Wagon handles better, when I was driving the demos it was really noticeable - the Saloon wandered, Wagon doesnt.
Looks are down to the beholder, but I think the saloon is better looking ........... I own a Wagon for practical reasons and have grown to like it more now.
The Wagon is more of a babe magnet than a Saloon, women prefer the low-key image that tells them that the male driving has little need of big spoilers, etc. Tells them that he has something worth offering

Prefer the 2 door Coupe myself
Have owned all three body shapes and if I did it over again I would go for the wagon over the saloon. Its just more practical and feels more spacious and airy.
Its a shame the new bug eye Wagon has a narrower track than the saloon although can anyone tell me if this makes a difference?

I ALWAYS get women coming over to me and droooling, I always thought it was the car?? it could be ME then do you reckon???
Wagons have TWO SMALL spoilers to keep the bl00dy tail down!! Saloons are a lot slower so its all about LOOK at ME I have a very small peni5!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though I've driven a '01 wagon and been as a passenger in a '01 saloon, I'm talking about the older shape. The only real difference I've noticed is that the wagons have more road noise than the saloons, which on some surfaces can be very intrusive. Also, if you are into upgrading the ICE, the speakers in the wagon are in a rubbish place for creating a proper sound stage compared with the saloon. Incidentally, I've signed up for the sound deadening group buy from the ICE forum in an attempt to quieten down the car. Also, tyres can make a big difference - my old cheapy Falkens were a *lot* noiser than the Bridgestones the car now wears.
I went for a wagon over the saloon, as it's more of a sleeper , not really for any practical reasons - but the extra space has come in handy for transporting tables, Landrover gearboxes and Audi quattro complete interiors. And almost 4 years on I still love it as much as when I first got it
PS The wagon is 50kg heavier.
