Just bought a used 2006 impreza, kinda dissapointed
I just purchased a 2006 impreza OBS special edition, 72K miles, 5 spd manual transmission ($10.500).
Its in great condition and when I test drove it, it seemed to have plenty of spunk....but today, I drove it home...home is in the mountains at 8000 feet. I was shocked by its lack of power on the hills. I couldn't pass hardly anyone, even dropping down to third only slowly brought the power up. In 4th, I only got power at 5000 rpms.
I replaced a 2003 honda civic and that civic flew up these hills compared to my scoobie.
Is this normal or is there something wrong with my scoobie?
thanks all

so non-turbo scoobies suck? how come everyone rates them so high? they have way more horsepower than my civic...and they aren't any bigger, they should, in theory, have more power!

what BHP does it have and what torque?
I think 98% on here will have a Turbo car.

Well in the UK it has a 2.0 N/A engine or a 2.5 turbo.
The 2.0 N/A is 157BHP & 137lb-ft
Its always going to feel slow in a big car with that small amount of power, especially at altitude!
Never quite understood whey they even made N/A ones as the boxer engine doesn't seem to produce enough torque in N/A form compared to a L4

to be fair the 2.0Litre engine in the CTR EP3 seemed to make as much torque etc as any other N/A 2.0L engine, and then goes on to make alot more power etc at its power band of 5200-8600 (ish i forget the exact rpms at standard trim)
