I'm of the assumption that the power tolerance of the classic STi boxes isn't much greater than that of the UK classic boxes. Somewhere around 330-350bhp/lb ft I think is the limit but don't quote me on that. PM someone like Harvey or Tony Burns on here for a definitive answer.

Should be ok with considerate driving at sub 350, but it really is a matter of time at any more than that. I'm running 390 ish through mine and it's just about given up, got a lovely low mile P1 box ready to go in.
If yours isn't broken then don't worry about it, if/when it breaks then worry about it. If your running pretty standard power you should be fine, if it goes then replace it with a later type r box. 754 code.
Your other thread pretty much summed all your concerns up to be honest, stop worrying about something that isn't yet a problem and enjoy your car. If it goes **** up it's not the end of the world.

Nah was hanging back for an overtake and booted in third, should have changed up to 4th and then 3rd for the overtake. Live and learn but would have died for sure if I'd done Brands in it a week later, so I was quiet fortunate to be close to home and not stranded at a race track

If it bothers the op that much I'd have an STi 6 speed ready for when his does go. My car was a my99 modified to around 300/300 and returned to standard before my ownership. Box went at 135k.

as said though its luck of the draw, my box whined on the way to the ring, thought sod it i need a new one anyway so still used it and i only took it out as i was going back to the ring and been like it for almost 18months
i was expecting the new one to last alot longer if im honest

not really, i would say there is 3 classes of driving,
DRIVING GENTLE: but seems pointless having a big power car when your afraid to have fun with it,
DRIVING HARD: which is fine, its what you up the power for and the last is there for and but still remembering
FINALLY ABUSE: ragging the **** out of the car and not caring about if it fails, just driving like like you stole it and generally people who do this also neglect cars on maintanace too which also leads to premature failure
