Default SOS!!!! Help, Advice needed!!!!!

SOS!!!! Help, Advice needed!!!!!

I know this might be in the wrong thread, but I am in urgent need for some help and advice.

My 2006 wrx Impreza will not start, early in the week it struggled to start a bit like an old car that has been left for some time (Thought it was a bit strange as it has been a first time starter every time)

This morning it struggled to start, went to a relatives come to start it up nothing all the lights on the dash seem bright (so battery seems fine) all I get is a clicking noise.

Please please can someone help, as I was suppose to be going away.

Car stuck in Morley Leeds.

its either the battery in shot , or you have a loose wire on the battery or starter motor

Can you be a bit more specific, as I am a bit of a novice.

Why would the battery be shot, if the alarm works fine and dash lights are fine.

Do the lights dim when you try to turn the car over?
Agree with Ian, Either battery is dead or dead starter motor, could have burnt out or like ian said check all earths on it.

Try jumping it or get a charger on it. sounds like the battery doesnt have enough current to turn the car over, could be a dry cell or a drain on it. Just read back that its been stood a while aswell which wont help. Jumping it will start but could need a new battery.

Dead battery - same happened to me. Have you tried jump leads ?
You may well have enough juice to light up the dash, but not enough to turn the starter motor.

Thanks for the advice, it turned out to be the battery as the guy from the AA confirmed it.

It has really pi**ed me off the cars serviced every 4,000 miles and thought it was as solid as the day it came from the factory....May sound over the top but when you pay over the top car insurance and road tax, when the car does not start it`s a bitter pill to swallow.

Most Jap cars fail their "MOT" at three years old, so why make it last any longer...

With regards to battery life, a lot depends on the usage of the vehicle. If the battery is used mainly on shortish runs ( less than 20 minutes) the battery will reduce in capacity over time as it can take around 30 minutes running to re-charge a battery fully. Due to the low level of charging a greater strain is placed on the battery. Due to the chemical nature of the battery and the chemical reaction between the plates and the electrolyte, each time the car is started and the charging cycle is run a degree of degredation occurs. This is amplified the more discharged the battery is. Hence a car that does long journeys the battery last's longer than someone going to the supermarket and then home once a week. My dad had this issue with his renault, shopping and then home result stuffed battery. I now own the car which does regular long runs 30 minutes plus, the car performs better and trhe battery is fully charged. My Subaru which is now my second car requires a battery charge every two weeks due to the drain from the radio, alarm and tracker. But it is worth the effort for the fun trips out.

Get a battery conditioner and plug the car in when left for longer periods of time.

my 06 battery gave up the ghost just before new year. It's an easy fix though £75 and 5 mins with the spanners and you'll be good as new.
