Just a quick question regarding dump valves/re-circ valves chaps.

My car has neither of the above and also runs without maf.
Now, when I come off the loud pedal I get a very loud (and lovely) chattering noise coming from my air filter( large green filter not panel). I have read this is caused from the air stalling the turbo. Is that correct ?? Is this causing any harm to my turbo ??

I'm using a 20G at 1.6 bar boost if that helps.

Thanks,
Matt..

From what I understand, not running a dumpvalve will shortern the life of your turbo as when you lift off, you are making the turbo blades stall suddenly.
I take it that you did not spec the car yourself and that you purchased the car in it's current state of tune?

Hi Matt

How to say, many people many opinions...
Yes DVless will short life of Turbo, from some reports..
Some tuners said turbo will pick up boost slower with DVless...
I've tried DVless,OE Recirc and Forge Recirc and car run lot better with Forge Recirc like DVless or OE recirc...
Every one have different opinion on this, but who care?

My car runs fine as it is and I have no complaints regarding spool up at all, lag really is at a minimum.
I like the noise and I like the way the car drives but just wanted opinions on whether or not I'm hurting the turbo like this.
When I bought the car it was running a VF28 with no dump valve or re-circ valve.

Why did you change the VF28?

Some older VF are prone to crack if you are running without DV or OEM Recirc, but TD range is lot stronger than older VF..

swapped VF28 for 20G as I wanted to get closer to 400. The 28 made 342 on my car. When we removed it we did find a small crack on the exhaust side come to mention it.
