Default Goodbye Scooby :-(

My Scooby was collected this morning by its new owner, so that's the end of 12 years of Subaru ownership for me.

My 03 WRX PPP sold for just £2850... an absolute bargain I reckon but a car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and now is not a good time to sell.

I replaced it with a Mazda 6 MPS which has a turbo and 4WD
but it just isnt special like the scooby. No scooby wave from other
drivers, or schoolboys pointing and smiling at it as I burble past them.
Lets face it ... no one playing Gran Turismo on their PS3 picks a Mazda 6.

I've had some great times at meets and track days and made some good friends. I've been given useful advice and shared my experience.

So, to Scoobynetters everywhere... goodbye and thanks. It's been fun. :-)

Yup the prices seem to be at an all time low. Ive owned 4 different Imprezas over the last 6 years and now have my Mrs sti wagon up for sale, we were looking to opt for a bug eye sti which can be picked up for under 5k!

Ive now had my eye taken by A4 TDi's and 3 series 330d's...ok...boring but im thinking they offer better value for money in the current climate.

Hi Gary,

Hope you enjoy the MPS. Nice to have a positive farewell these days as opposed to the tirade of emperors with new coats of late.

The car is much heavier (about 250kg) and you can really feel that, but it is a quieter and a more comfortable ride. Then again, my impreza had the prodrive spring kit so it was a very firm ride with fantastic handling. The Mazda is more compliant over bumps and potholes but it does wallow more, especially when you floor the throttle - the front lifts and the rear squats down whereas the scoob would stay flat.

I do a lot of long motorway stuff so the comfort, the cruise control, the great stereo and the ride are more than compensation for the lack of B-road hooning ability that the scoob was so good at.

I've had a remap at Litchfield Imports and that has really improved the performance... from 260 bhp to about 295bhp now but still returning 33mpg on a long run so I'm pretty happy with it.

It's a general trend I'm afraid
There is so many good diesel performance cars on the market
My wrxd is fly machine and gets 48mpg
My green wagon gets 23 mpg so is now just a fun car
Insurance costs are going up so in think for the average salaried person you need 2cars to run if you have a scooby now which will then become the fun car

Who knows you might be back with a blugeye / blob eye for under 2k soon

Sounds like a good compromise.

Best wishes with your new car.

Some photos from the ebay auction of the car. The reserve was set at £7500 but the guy needed the money and offered it to me at my max bid of £5950.

Where there's a will there's a way ... keep the scoobs for w/ends, trackdays etc. Buy a cheap diesel for the daily grind.

That's an excellent price for one of these.
How many miles did your Scoob have? £2850 seems very low, even at todays prices.

136,000 - which does explain the price somewhat. Rest of the spec here...
