What would 4-5k buy me in the world of classic imprezas?
I have a budget of 4-5k and want a nice classic Impreza, not too fussed on colour. But prefer a 3 door but I know type r's etc are worth more so would prefer a better condition 4 door not saloon to a trashed type r etc if that makes sense.
So what would 4-5k buy in terms of model / condition and spec for a classic Impreza?
thanks

I wouldn't mind spending a tad more maybe up to 5.5k, really all I want is something very clean bodywork wise (good paint and 100% rust free) and a very reliable engine (low mileage or rebuilt engine). Obviously service history is more important but it's nice to know it's a low mileage car since other components won't have traveled so far.
I'd love something already modified reliably for good bhp, 300 is a figure I'd be happy with.
I'm just in love with the classics after briefly owning one and have been waiting a while to get back into one but this time a minter one since I have a lot bigger budget.

What is better about these imports compared to the UK models?
Lovely wagon but sadly want a saloon this time round, had a UK Turbo2000 before and after buying it always found myself wanting the looks of the saloon.
I am partial to Type R's but buying on ebay is not my fave thing to do, seems to be all the dogs that end up on ebay (to a point) that haven't been able to sell elsewhere so resort to auction.

On enthusiats sites people will also want more than what the car is really worth.
You will find a good one on here, but not a cheap one!

For that money you could get any type of classic you wanted in this economic situation.
Not a huge number of people looking for an ageing gas guzzler in truth.
For me anything but a P1 is a possibility for that money......
