Re-Map Question
Hi,
I have a Hawkeye STI 2.5 currently mapped brilliantly to circa 360/400 by Bob Rawle.
At the moment the car is fitted with a fully decatted 3" Magnex exhaust but it's too loud for the track and won't meet noise level requirements.
So, on Saturday and as recommended by a few on these forums, I'm having a full 3" Milltek system fitted by Powerstation and this time, I'm going the sports-cat route, because I don't want the hassle come MOT time, which is due in a month. I can always get a decat centre section later.
I appreciate that having the sports cat fitted will reduce output slightly, although according to Dirk at Powerstation, the Milltek sports-cat is extremely efficient and very free flowing and little is lost around the 360-370bhp mark.
However my main concern is whether the Ecutek remap, that Powerstation will carry out on their dyno, after the fitting, will result in a car that feels and responds very differently than it does now, having already been mapped by Bob.
Or will Powerstation simply be able to tweak what I have now to reflect the fitting of the Milltek and I won't be able to tell the difference?
At the end of the day, I'd love the car to feel, respond and perform, as it does now, after the new exhaust is fitted.
Has anyone had any experience of this?
Cheers,
Steve

Doubt they'll do anything other than fit the zorst tbh. Bob normally "locks" his maps to protect his IPR ... most mappers do that of course.
TX.
Edit - doh, just noticed the ecutek bit! All mappers are different so it will probably not be as it was before if indeed they can even get in to the previous map.

What are powerstation charging you for the Milltek, £1000ish ???
I have the same exhaust for sale in 'car parts thread', it came from powerstation too. Would save you £800 buddy, just a thought.

Hi Matty,
Might be interested but can't see thread. Been a long day!
Can you point me in the right direction please mate.
Cheers,
Steve
^+1 a tweak is gonna be a better option and far less cost ! tbh if Powerstation were worth their reputation they should have offered to fit your exhaust but recommended a tweak from your mapper rather than a whole new unnecessary remap !

You should buy this and then let Bob tweak your current map. Would work out a he'll of alot cheaper for you.
It's also easily quiet enough for track use buddy.
Also, I don't think you will need to move the hanger as they only come with the two hangers at the back.

Thanks for the good advice and taken! Feel a lot more confident with the final results now.
Litchfields are now supplying and fitting the Milltek for me and Bob has squeezed me in to tweak the map next Tuesday! All, just in time for my first open pitlane trackday at Silverstone next Thursday.
Can't wait!!
