+1. Simon tweaked the map in mine yesterday for a fmic, and to say I drove away happy is an understatement.

In terms of showing power, both have there weaknesses, best is hub dynos IMHO.
Road dyno gives power at the wheels which is all I would worry about Some mappers offer a fly figure but this kind of depends on the discretion of the mapper as to how flattering he wants to makes his power figure
Road dyno is good if you can find a flat of road to do a run or three on but inclines slopes will skew results if your not careful.
Simon uses IRO 16% over power at wheels of there abouts, which is an honest power output rather than the +25% brigade
Moley MD FTW
99 Your old wagon is for sale on PH atm at some ridiculous figure lol

For mapping both are useful ways to map

Good to see you again Gary
Result not bad for ppp car standard bar a bbox..
Was mapped on dyno dynamics and road, the ppp map made 288bhp iirc.. which is lower than expected.
The 317 was on the dyno dynamics but it did feel quicker than 317 on the road after a slight tweak and ecutek delta dash road dyno showed 326bhp..
Roll on the MD...
most amusing working on a twin to my own car.

so may not be accurate and need a tweak to the engine dyno.. oh hold on we need to then tweak it when back in the car.. oh we have done a complete circle
There are huge variables that influence the figures both on road dyno and a roller dyno, to an extent they are removed on a hub dyno..
I tend to use a roller dyno more as a setup tool for mapping for the road than just for making numbers on a graph.. there is a lot more to setting a car up than just peak power at 6000+rpm.. which is what 90% of owners focus on.. no offence meant.
It is easy being in the same / similar car day in day out to have an educated guess at it's power output and be fairly accurate and it is then nice to see that figure backed up on road dyno or the dyno etc
99% of figures quoted in the uk is at the flywheel, be it car sales figures or dyno figures of modded cars, so even using a hub dyno you still then want to convert that to flywheel figures to be able to compare.. unless you use the same dyno to just see improvements etc
I try with road dyno software figures from the laptop to be as accurate / honest as possible, nothing worse than being told a car is XXXbhp and then putting it on the dyno and finding it down.
Sorry waffling now

Totally different - even without Mods you'll notice the difference, add just exhaust and filter into the mix and it's a different car. Mine went from 217 to 270 on exhaust and filter swap, with improvements in idle, smoothness and loss of flat spots - plus mpg increased as well.

Mine feels like a completley different car now, pulls a lot better.
Like Simon said it was down on power originally, so 288bhp increased to 326bhp is a massive difference.
The power increase is only part of the difference though, the car feels so much nicer to drive, and pulls better through the whole rev range, so it isn't all about peak power.
