Default achievable?

hi,is 300/300 achievable on a 98 type r with apexi ecu without removeing the oe cat downpipe?
i know i would need to fit a walbro pump,i would like it mapped for 98 ron fuel.
would i be asking too much?
last dyno print out was 267/251.(completely standard with original sti backbox)
changes for mapping would be....h&s backbox, walbro pump, apexi power fc and commander.
is it achievable without having any other mods?
i want to leave the oe cat downpipe in place if possible.

It should be. My Type R made 289 standard and well over 310+ with an exhaust system alone - standard ECU, filter etc.

Just change to sport cat and this figure will be achievable,OE DP is very restrictive...

trouble is with sports cats, they have to be mega hot to work,my old car had a brand new ninja sports cat and 2nd mot after fitted it failed emmissions at 2 garages, and i gave it one hell of a blast aswell to ensure it was hot,i paid £300 for it and tbh was a waste of money! seems alot of hassle to have to change the decat every year and also makes the car noisier dosent it? also dont want any s**t with the police if pulled over?
are you saying it wont be achievable if i leave oe cat in place?

I would also agree that the original cat is very restrictive and would benefit greatly from a sports cat or decat. I can't 100% say that it would be impossible, however attaining that level of performance with the cat in place might ultimately destroy it anyway.

Are you thinking EcuTek or Apexi etc?

got an apexi power fc and commander, and a walbro,i do have a decat pipe, just worried it will make the car noisey, and will be another expense at mot time to keep changing it.

Hi there i'm running full decated exhaust with Blitz Nur Spec and police never pull me...
Yes sport cat will make car nosier, but i think with good headers and up pipe this figure will be achievable, everything again depend on more factors, because every car is different.
OE DP/Cat is restrictive and with some upgrades like Headers and U pipe will be achievable your target...
Which turbo you are running?

im running the oe turbo which i believe to be vf24? (i think),
not looking to do up pipe or headers as original plan is really to map for uk fuel and get hopefully about 300 in bhp and torque?

Cats removed and replaced with a de-cat. No, it wasn't mapped as a V4 couldn't be at the time..............

Heard that it was on the cards to be able to map a V4, that was a couple of years ago. Not sure on the latest as I went for an Apexi ECU when I upped the power to around 370bhp.

ok,thanks, dont think ecu tek is available,i already have the apexi power fc.
dont want a noisey car or hassle at mot time, and imho the sports cats dont bloody work efficiently, even when hot!

VF24 is good turbo, with this turbo is achievable this BHP,some guys run 350bhp with this turbo, but aware this turbo is few years old,who knows how much make after several years..

But you will see,how much you will make on standard system with backbox etc.

Ah yes, sorry 98 is not ecutek'able! Didn't read original post clearly enough! ha ha.

Well best thing to do would be get someone to map it that will see what it gets, then perhaps if you aren't happy with figures fit the decat and remap. I would be happy to do that above for a single remap fee and a small fitting charge.

i was just about to say that would be extra remap cost

Somerset is a fair trek! Just to answer your questions, I'm new to the scooby/evo scene, but not to the mapping scene. I road map with the use of a very accurate datalogging dyno tool. Not an ODB jobby. Will provide graphs that are within 0.5% accuracy. Or can use a dyno dynamics at extra cost if necessary.

At the end of the day I could spout past history but want to built a reputation on my own merits. Proof is in the pudding and I don't use guess work figures like approx or about. The datalogger tells me like a dyno if I've just found another 3bhp midrange.

For me to be able to offer you fitting on the down pipe you will need to come to me really, just for ease, tools and workshop space etc.

However I can come to you if need be.

p.s turbo should be a VF24

ok, have you ever mapped an apexi power fc to a standard car(completely oe)?
if so what gains in power/torque are likely just from the apexi ecu being fitted and mapped?

No not completely OE, all so far have been sports or decat. Most similar to yours was a Turbo 2000, FMIC (ebay jobby), decat downpipe and apexi.

Made 296bhp and 318lb/ft at 1.3 bar. I was told to keep it below 300bhp btw! lol

VF24, yes the ebay FMs are not great. Although it did the job adequately.
