Default Oh ****!

I married my wife in Oct and took her last name - It's far better then mine.

I've changed almost every bill to my new name but completly forgot the logbook of our car.

I did the insurance and now the tax is due at the end of the month.
I'm going to spain in less then a week and have been advised to take the log book with us - to show we own the car - so I can't try and get the name changed before the end of the month. (we come back from Spain on the 22nd)

do you think the bint in the post office will issue road tax to me with a different last name on the years insurance ? I will take my deep poll with me though,

Or should I chance it online in the hope the systems are not super updated?

You should be fine. As long as there is a valid insurance docs for the car thats all you need along with the tax reminder, all they check is that there is a valid insurance policy against the car, No need for the V5

Do it over the phone or on-line. They only check that the vehicle is mot'd and insured.

I tax and insure a car that's registered to my Dad. Post office never take any notice of the name on the reminder. They're only interested in valid insurance and mot.

I took all my doc's as per the AA website. never got stopped or asked for docs. Take it with you just in case and if you have to show them then explain why the name is different. If you are going to spain, look into going through the back roads? I done this trip a couple of years back and the tolls cost a bloody fortune.

Thank you all for your replies. The truth about me taking my wides name is this:

I have always hated my last name (wonnacott) go on laugh! And it's all she had left from her dad after he died and the few things she had were distorted in a house fire.

As for being under the thumb.. Very very unlikly. Those who know us can confirm this.
