**** Me was that quick...

Dont know if you are on here, but I was driving about last night and saw a nice looking escort cossie.. decided to give chase... er follow.. Didnt think it was up for anything and by the time i realised it was he had gone... Caught up again.. and had a few blasts from lights.. I wasnt really trying as I had four people in mine... anyway last set of lights I though f%ck it... dropped it from 6500 and got away with no wheelspin.. and managed to get about a car length on it... anyway when road opened up a bit.. was obvious that his car was quicker.. so I wound down window and my mate starts chatting.. turns out he had 300bhp...

oops... best go get a link...

94 5dr UK turbo

If you have a car full of people say 3 or 4 how much does it affect the performance. How many secs would it knock of the 0-60 time of a subaru. Assuming that all the people of medium build, no fat blokes i.e. 15 stone up. Sorry if I've offended anyone with that last comment. Just interested to know because I've had a few races with slower cars and never seen to get that much of gain on them but I've always had a full load while they've just been on their own.

If you think that flooring it at the traffic lights by "droping it from 6500rpm to give chase with four people in the car is going to make you the next Damon Hill, then you should get a life!

John-Paul, i suppose you think because you think you have 7posts to your name then that makes it ok to insult people. Would you say that to someone on the street? No you wouldnt because you would get a punch in the noise if you did. Just because you are behind a screen you think you can say what you want to. You get a life!! Idiot. Thats the problem with a few people on here ive noticed. They bitch and moan and slag people off. For goodness sake sort it out you guys.

Scrappy.

My reply to you is that I would say it to your face if I saw you in public, it is people like you who cause major accidents. I am a Scooby owner but feel that there is an appropriate time and place to prove the worth of your car and driving skills. Why dont you race properly and compete in allocated events/track days/road rallies/night events. This is simply my opinion and I do not mean to offend.

Does it make much difference with the car being loaded up?

Yes it does is the simple answer. How did Colin Chapman make the Lotus 7 fly? Lightweight! I seem to remember reading somewhere that 10kg weight loss was equivalent to 1bhp increase. Working on that basis, 4 people of about 14 stone in the car would see an equivelent of about 35BHP knocked off your car!

LOL

There seems to be allot of bravery/down right rood ness on this forum lately.

I posted a perfectly sensible post about paintball and got some cool posts my the majority, but you don’t half get the occasional down right rood a** Hole, who would hide behind their screen.

Im with you on this, if you cant be polite and courteous, SHUT THE **** UP and go do something else

the odd duel on an empty road makes life interesting
why else would you buy a fast car? ive got one coz i lurve popping and flaming. used to get it a lot in my old scooby, but noone bothers me now in my present motor.
two porsches on sunday, empty road, NEITHER were interested. does this make them more safety minded..perhaps. boring? perhaps....

or does it make 'em chicken::
cluck cluck bwawk bwawk
chick chick chick chick chicken lay another porsche for me

yep, i'll get flamed, but IMHO, people who drive too SLOWLY cause more accidents

Old john paul would have a heart attack if he saw me drive...

I havent ever crashed, or got a single point, its cuz u can drive like a fookin loon on the road in relative safety, if the time is right.

How old are you john paul? mid thirties at least?

Your scoob standard? "if doing 'insert modification here' would make the car better, why didnt subaru do it in the first place?" is the usual wierdos comment.

Is your scooby faster than your pope-mobile?

There is no law to saw how fast you can accelerate away from the lights on an empty stretch of road (not that I know of anyway) so I dont see what the problem is if your not doing any harm. This doesnt mean everyone who does it is a risk driver and tanks it round at 150mph all the time. I dare anyone to say theyve never tried racing another driver at least once (milk float drivers excluded).

cheers for the responses... And I didnt say it made me the next Damon Hill.. If you read my original post... I was driving around and I saw him up ahead so decided to follow him to see if he was interested in going somewhere more appropriate.. (Usually signalled by a flash of the hazards)

I didn't however say I went on the wrong side of the road a 90mph and bully him into racing by trying to get away from me. Also I know I cant have bothered you as I ensured there were no other cars around.. (would have spoilt the fun anyway!)

I would be interested in knowing your chosen method of setting off (quicklyy) especially given the quality / issues with the standard clutch in an impreza.

I await your response

David

Scrappy where do u hit someone when you punch them in the "Noise"

David, you would have stood a chance if you had been solo, and if you'd lost it you would have only hurt yourself rather than everyone in your motor, never race when fully loaded with your mates, my friends did that at 16 (passenger) and one of them now lives in a box 6ft under the ground.

What do people expect threads to be about on a forum for fast cars??

Needlework?
Rear seat blanket design advances?
Cup holder specification?

Come on stop being so pious and self righteous. I love a good "I raced a ***** and lost/ shafted him" story, it livens the working day.

Erm.. wasnt actually my idea to race.. it was their encouragement... and the road was about four lanes wide.. no corners just a straight line blast with a few interesting additions...

5dr turbo... i know I was asking for it, but I was probably the only car that made him try... It's better than the little &**** in the novas doing 70 past schools...

And Its not like I went to overtake him... he just set of quickly... so did I.
