Alarming to see good looking Impreza broken?
I can't be the only one thinking that seeing some of the cars being broken in the Market Place is worrying.
Prodrive STI, P1, reasonable looking classic STIs.
To think that these cars are worth more in bits is such a shame - and most of them I'm sure were perfectly useable examples.
Makes me wonder whether I should even bother thinking of owning another one (least I wont be short of parts!!)

Yes I've noticed that a R,S,T or V reg classic would be worth less then 2k
Imported ones even less as they are dearer to insure
Even the chavs can afford them but they can't afford to insure them as insurance would cost as must as the car ,petrol costs are going through the roof and 18-25 mpg is not good especially on short fast journeys and servicing is dear and Tyres at £80 a corner makes these cars not economically viable for those on a limited budget
Then the old rust around the rear wheel arches that every ten year old modle will suffer
( even my 11year old polished and garaged low mileage classic has just started a bubble )
I would imagine a £300 +bill to sort out and spray up
Look on eBay and piston heads and on hear hundreds for sale and very few are selling
Most modded up to the maximum too
When cars get older our better halves nag if we spend more on cars ,as they think the Money would be better spent on a new small hatchback on 5 years 0 %
Eventually parts will be in over supply and prices will tumble and it will be dearer to courier an item that it will be worth
There will be lots of DIY jobs on cars in the next few years and second hand parts will brake causing even more problems
It won't be long to you can buy a turbo for £500 or brake it up for £900 and scrapyards will be full of sad old Scoobys with rusting panels and interiors dismantled

But in a vicious cycle of supply and demand that's what happen to the Sierra Cosworth...
The few tidy low mileage cars become highly sought after and soon reach silly prices.
IMHO.
dunx
P.S. Mine has done 55000 miles now in 9 years... fingers crossed LOL

Yes I think your right for the very few low mileage cars with not many owners
Built quality is generally good mine is 11 years old in may since I got it new ,only a few stone chips on the front ,a little rust bubble starting on the rear wing under the petrol cap
These cars are built to last so companies that benefit will be body shops and refurbishment garages ,prehaps those garages that have concentrated on ford RS s will jump aboard
Maybe a wise person might brake cars now AND store all the bits for ten years and prices will rise rapidly when people are desperate for parts in ten years time when only 10% of classics will be left
When will Subaru stop making parts for classics 5-10 years time ?

I had my 2003 STI V-Limited JDM Import with 28,000 miles on the clock, one of only 4 V-Limiteds in the country and in pristine condition with 10k worth of mods inc Roger Clark etc etc and couldnt even sell it for 10k and i even reduced it to 9750 and still didnt sell.
I then decided to sell all the modified parts and put it back standard and had a massive array of timewasters so much so i decided to keep the car and buy all the modified parts back again and make the car even better.
To break clean from my finance i would have to break the car as they just dont sell and to think i got 12k for my old Escort RS Turbo Series 1 custom from the first buyer with the phone ringing off the hook for a 23 year old car is something to think about,. as my car is rare i think it will increase in value or hold its value NOT NOW but in the future and go down the smae route as old RSs
I think insurance costs and high fuel costs have killed the Subaru

Some poor soul may still have an pre-facelift Classic Impreza with the farmer's tweed interior....very rare these days as most have been replaced with later/JDM seats.
I very nearly bought a UK Turbo with the original UK spec interior, it was utterly hideous....I'm glad I saw sense the next day and realised my huge error.
