Sad really
I can imagine tucking up my Scooby in the garage in the not too distant future & telling my grandkids that this used to be a beast back in the day when petrol was available, now its just an artefact from a bygone era!!

Do they really think a few evos off the road is going to reduce climate change? What about the far east increasing production and therefore increased co2/toxic by products?
Climate change is natural, its not man made

sad that we wont get to see the days of the evo v impreza on the world rally stage, i always hoped that there was a chance manufacturers would go back to it once the economy started to pick up

I dont think that subaru will just up and end the sti market just because mitsubishi has appeared too, cars are a massive market and whether people can admitt it or not but cars like sti and others will be around for a very long time, the car market is all about making money, if they have a strong selling point they will keep to it, but thats just my opinion.

yeah but the older type R was the more succesfull, considering the new type R was running less power then the previous model, and in my own opinion, looked no where near as nice, i rekon sales dropped as a result of the new car they made not being as much better then the older type R.
how ever subaru and mitsubishi dont appear to have made that mistake, sales are still great and mitsubishi has not made the decision to stop evo cars due to sales.
how ever once again thats only my opinion.

thing is the new subarus sales figures arn't great at all (unless things picked up recently), so your right, if the market was there it would stay on the lineup, but its not so its just another nail in the coffin.
well i got to admitt i havnt got all the knowledge about the sales of the hatchbacks, but as far as im aware going to car meets im seeing more and more often, and not just that but having loads of work done to them, i got the idea that just because not many hatchbacks are seen in a specific area may not mean they are being sold just remember garages are all all over the globe, only thing i dont have any idea of is how to find out how many have been sold alltogether, that would be interesting to find out.
Plenty of European manufacturers still seem to be producing performance cars (BMW, Audi and Porsche for example). So they clearly still see a market for these products, Mitsubishi is maybe different because the Evo is really the only performance line they have and most of their other vehicles are more Eco than Evo. So I can see why they might make this decision.
Every penny on the cost of fuel will shrink the performance car market, at some point the cars will no longer be viable, or will be toys of the super rich.
I say lets enjoy it while we can, there may be a period coming up where petrol is unaffordable yet the technology for electric cars is not mature enough to deliver a performance option for realistic cost - hope i'm wrong.
For me personally i will not get rid of my Impreza unless fuel is over £2 a litre, but then my mileage is low.

if it is indeed true , you wont find a cheap evo again , and unfortunatly i think subaru will follow suit , trouble is these cars were designed so the general populus could drive what their idols drove in the rallies but the general populus can no longer keep putting the fuel in whereas people who tend to buy audis porches and beemers tend to have company cards etc
porches ,,,, idiot porsches
