Came back to my Scoob at half past midnight on Saturday night and thought it looked a little funny. At first I thought the front spoiler had been taken and was cursing the little sods I normally represent. Then I realised that my car was not normally black and the horrible truth sunk in.
The whole of the front end is gone, melted, the bonnet and wings charred and burnt, the engine - who knows, tyres melted, alloys burnt, headlightes destroyed. I couldn't believe it. I bought the car on January 24th this year.
Can't tell what happened yet - we'll wait and see.
Just needed to tell you guys.

Can't wait for the ensuing battle with the insurance company. I'm hoping they write it off, which is what they said they normally do with fire-damaged cars, as I'm not sure I'll be happy driving a repaired car that has been in that sort of accident even if it has been repaired!!
Still in a state of shock...

Oh, God, I don't believe it. What a nightmare
What a tragic end for such a lovely car, obviously I know what it meant to you. I presume it's a write-off.
Give me a call at work if you want to get it off your chest - you've got my number. I'll be there in about an hour or so.

Andy,
After all we went through to get that Scoob! Do you remember my directions? I can't navigate for ****...
I cannot believe it. Listen mate, thanks for all you did for me. Very grateful. If it's a write off, I'm going to get another scoob, perhaps put a couple of grand more towards it. Now we'll see what the Insurance company give me for it if it's written off. It's a MY99, 69,954 miles, immaculate condition (as was).
Anyway, thanks for all your support.

Maz,
Sorry to hear what's happened m8 !!
Have you any idea what caused the fire ? Do you know if it was an engine fire (mechanical fault) or if it was the aforementioned bucking fastards torching it ?!?
Can't see why an insurer would have a problem either way - check your policy as to what the fire excess is and that's all you should have to worry about.
Hope you can get things sorted.

John,
As I understand it Direct Line are examining the car as we speak, and the engineer should phone me today or tomorrow to let me know what the car is worth. I'm unsure whether they will pay out, mostly because I'm a pessimist about these things.
Anyway, thanks for youre advice and I'll give you a call when I need my new one insured...

Gutter,
Be interested to hear if it was accidental or not as mine is a 5 door and will often leave my Rottie in it!
He is hard as nails but he cant fight fires.
Hope you get a good pay out.

Jeez Maz - just read this. Sad news Mate. Any updates on what happened, or whether Direct Line are OK with things?
Really feel for you.
Cheers, HB.

Only just read this....How are things going on the insurance front?..I feel so sorry for you,my P1's the only light of my life at the moment,Id be heartbroken if this happened. You get attached to these "bits of metal" in a big way.Still...lots of scope for "tinkering" with a new one eh? x
