insurance nightmare!
my insurance co has just quoted me £1,130 for my renewal, last year i paid £420,i have shopped around and have managed to get it down to £767, chuffin rip off if you ask me,but if that wasnt a big enough kick in the *****,ive been told that all cars need to be insured even my old 98 wagon that im breaking, what is the point, its not as if its going to drive it self and kill someone or do any damage to anything,if you ask me its blatant theft from allready greedy b*****ds. perhaps its time to stand up to these people and tell them to go get fooked!...your comments please

Quick search on Google:
"From early 2011, a new law will mean that the registered keeper of a vehicle must keep it insured unless they've made a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification)."

over a barrel :|
and as for uninsured drivers putting the price up, it all sounds like a way of making prices even higher....
i worked out once that ive had maybe £1500 from my insurance company since '98
and ive paid around £7000 in insurance, they are doing well off me so far...

aye i knew someone would come up with that argument sooner or later
and its true, they take the risk and it only takes one large crash in my new motor (touch wood) and thats them out of pocket
Insurance is a risk and all that
in the one crash i had, everyone told me to claim whiplash, but i didnt have it so didnt claim... although i do wonder how many people would be that honest :d
still when it comes to something thats enforced by law, and the way the world is, you gotta put money on some people making alot more than they prob should
which is prob why you get such better prices than most of the big insurance companies

The biggest problem with the un-insured drivers is that if you're hit by one it's down to the company who last insured that car to pay the claim.
The insurers can take the un-insured driver to court to re-claim their costs, but the judge is likely to make them pay the money back at £1 per week, so the insurers won't get their money back for many many years.

Nope.
Big problem currently with youngsters setting up a policy so they can get an insurance certificate to tax their car, then they cancel the insurance a week later.
Even though the company only insured the car for a week they are still liable for any costs that driver has.... even though they cancelled the policy.
It needs the judges/courts to crack down on un-insured drivers. 6 points and a £100 fine isn't nearly enough IMO

aye been seeing that on motorway cops etc
they wont give a damn about points or the fine tbh, they will keep driving either way
if they are going to drive uninsured they will drive unlicensed
def agree they need to figure out more harsh ways of treating them!

Its a bit of a nightmare like MOLEY says idiots canceling policies, whiplash claims etc,i had an accident with a guy who pulled out on me,and my insurance co were practically telling me too claim for whiplash, even calling me every other day to see if i had changed my mind after telling them i was perfectly ok,its just not fair on the motorist or insurance companies, the big question is how can it be sorted out,so it doesnt cost honest people?
