bugger, i had the same with a fiesta yonks ago, the dealer ended up shipping it to another larger garage to sort
still got there in the end and had the wee fez for about 2 years, my brother had it for about 2 years after that
Im sure you will end up with the same outcome, minus the fez
edit: as in a good outcome,. not the car shipped around garages too fix D:

Sorry to hear mate
All I'd say is hold fire until it's been on the ramp and looked at. It might not be as bad as it seems
If it makes you feel any better I bought mine in November and it immediately had a gearbox fault. It's been traced but it's gonna be off the road until at least the end of the month due to no parts and the cost is around £800.00. In addition to this its needed,
New pads and discs on the front £320 plus fitting
New clutch £?
Front Brembos refurb £?
The bill still has been totaled for the other parts, but the dealer I bought from has so far paid for the gearbox. I'm chasing him for the other stuff as it's all occurred almost straight after I bought it
So hopefully you'll have a better outcome than me mate

My Type R was off the road for 7 of the first 10 months !
I'm sure once its sorted and you get to have a good drive in it, all will be forgotten quickly
Its the rollercoaster ride of Impreza Ownership.

Anyhow, could be the rocker cover gaskets are gone. Common fault but don't take it to a main dealer or even back to this dealer unless under warranty but take it to a well known specialist like API or the clinic and have it checked out for a second opinion
Best of luck as once sorted you will never look back

Sorry but the "trusted dealer" said it was just a sump plug and without having it checked out you handed over cash!!! IMO madness but each to their own

on a different note I've had my Bug WRX since 2002 as a daily driver, it's had so many bits changed to make it "go faster" it's nothing like it left the factory but every day I get out of bed, have a cup of tea and whatever the weather just climb into it, turn the key and trundle into work......
Hopefully you will get it sorted

All the best with the car mate, there are few things worse than looking forward to something and having it tainted with problems. I'm a bit of an old fart but still got excited about getting my Impreza and would have been gutted if it had begun needing attention five minutes after buying it. As others have said, hopefully you'll get it sorted without to much hassle and find yourself behind the wheel with a perma-grin and the rear windows at half mast listening to that burble in glorious stereo.

the rocker cover gaskets are a common fault with scoobs but, if the oil is dripping onto the driveshaft it sounds like something a little further back.it might be worth having a look at the turbo oil return pipe.

Alright guys little update took it back to the dealer today and he was shocked at how bad the leak is they had it up in the air and they suspect its the back of the sump gasket leaking so its booked in for thursday to have it sorted and they are paying for everything so i guess its a bit of good news

^^ lol right then guys thought i would give u guys a update took the car to a garage for the oil leak they said it was suspected sump gasket so they took the sump off resealed it then refitted but it was still pissing out of some where so i rang the guy who sold me the car and he told me he will sort it well today he took it to a subaru place and they said the engine will have to be stripped to find the leak and its contaminated the clutch so that will have to be replaced and because the engine is being stripped it will need a new cambelt the guy who sold it me is gutted as he has gotta pay for it all but they reckon i shud have it back thursday or friday its not been a great start to ownership but its worked out in the end for me as i get a new clutch for free and cambelt which it was due anyway so happy days

it does sound like the rear oil seal, but the engine doesnt need stripping down to fit it.its just simply lift out the engine complete, remove clutch + flywheel then fit new seal and then put everything back in.
