I read some where today. as of 2012 any car fitted with a cat from new need one fitted to pass a mot.

even if it passes the emisions with out a cat fitted, it will fail

Why? Doesn't say it needs the OE cat - just a cat.

Imports built before June 1995 don`t need a cat iirc. So I`m ok.

Any car fitted with a cat from the factory needs it for the MOT and will most certainly fail the emissions without but as already mentioned with a friendly tester it won't be a problem

Just one cat in the centre pipe may not get hot enough & work efficently to pass emmissions. Better off with a friendly MOT station or change to a catted downpipe at MOT time.

Why not just fit a sport cat downpipe and be done with it?
What power it going to costs you anyway - 10bhp?

a standard cat/sports cat wont fit, so asked about the centre pipe cat. see what you mean rickya about it not getting hot enough, that could be a problem.

it was in a vosa/type garage leaflet that they were sent

Sorry I'm slightly confused by this

If a car comes new with a cat and you take it off theres a 99.99% chance its going to fail anyway so I dont see whats changed ?
