Default Engine Bay Detail

I finally got round to cleaning up my engine bay today. I don't think the car has ever had an engine bay detail before so was a little tough but worth it in the end.

Used advice from previous posts on here and the polished swiss guide.

Degreased with Carlack 68 and dressed with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Then some Autoglym metal polish here and there.

Thanks guys! Not bad for a first effort hey?

I was a little nervous about taking a hose pipe to the engine bay but it was a pretty straight forward job.

Yeh, more rewarding than cleaning the house

My intercooler is still a little dirty on the fins but I don't think there's much I can do about that. Anyone else got any tips for this bit?

It looks a lot better now, I spend 20 mins on mine every couple of weeks which builds on the initial clean and over time it gets better and better. It's a real bummer when someone comments on how nice the car looks when the bodywork is immaculate and then up comes the bonnet and the engine's covered in crap.

good job

Tim

Thanks Tim! I know what you mean. I keep my bodywork absolutely mint, and get compliments on my car all the time but the engine bay was a little embarrassing.

I cleaned my I/C by making a solution of Autosol mixed with a little water and a shagged out toothbrush, then dabbed it lightly with kitchen roll and flushed it with a watering can before running the engine to dry it out. Must use the toothbrush side to side though lol.
