What won?

I'd have voted for your white one Power but you wouldn't tell me who that lass in your avi was so I got the Ashlynn one but can't figure her out!

Chris's scooby is one of the best examples you can find.. ( other wise it wouldn't of won Impreza Idol ) an apart from that, he has given ALL the prizes won to a Charity Raffle !

Well Done Chris !!

A superbly spec'd car and wonderfully understated. It's only failing is the WR1 colour which I always thought would look better on a Micra!

cant believe some of the tat that makes it into this mag. people win these poll's by posting links to the voting site on forums thats how they win.

if everyone casted an honest vote, it would be a different story. if you asked me, mike latimer should have won it, it outclassed everything else that entered

I entered this 'idol contest' as did many others on SN, BUT You don't see me or them throwing their toys out of the pram, cause someone elses Scooby was far better...

It's life. You have your idea of an 'idol' an others have theirs... Its down to personal choice.

Stop whingeing... the Votes have been cast, the comp is over.

Move on....

I see it as the Subaru that people would be most likely to 'idolise' I guess, regardless. No conditions, bought, modded, built, anything goes. Pure and simply the best.

I have to admit I am no fan of the WR1 colour and if it had been me the P1 would have won all day long

It was definitely a worthy winner: a no expense spared RCM built version of a special edition scooby that retained the original look whilst comprehensively improving all other aspects of the car. By all accounts owned by a top chap too!

I've never liked the ice Blue colour either, though!

They should have painted the WR1 gold

I would chose the WR1 over the P1 all day. Personally I think the classic looks too classic, i.e. old now. The P1 does look the best out of the classics but even that is looking like time is being cruel to it.

The WR1, although Im not 100% on the colour, looks far more modern and crisper and Chris' just looks so good I couldnt care less about the colour.

I do think that in its day the classic was far better looking and in a class of its own than compared to the new Imprezas offering for todays market.

Very interesting reading these replies. I am very pleased to have won a tough competion and we were up against some very nice cars to say the least. Voting and getting votes was a difficult thing. You ask your friends/neighbours/work colleagues etc.......then where do you go. We have been members on the WR1OC, SIDC, SCOOBYNET, NASIOC and the Fiesta ST owners club for quite a few years so we posted the link up on those forums asking for votes and it was up to those members if they voted or not. We also involved most of our village and many local businesses and we even had 2 local colleges who rang up and said they wanted to be involved. I am a driving instuctor and all my pupils old and new voted and we also had about 15 local driving schools who joined in as well as the driving examiners.
Our WR1 is well known locally so people were happy to vote, but you have to ask and its a constant thing you have to do if you want to win.
RCM were a big help and as both Matt and Olly are close friends we knew we had them to help if needed. They came in on the last day of voting.
Matts P1 is a great car and it was a tough fight between us and he got a lot of votes from joining 14 different forums in 5 different countries. He even joined forums we had been on for some years and picked up loads of votes, so people did vote for the cars and not just for fellow members.
The P1OC was very active in helping Matt and they are a great club, but they also had another P1 in the competion, which split the voting a little and in the end only 53 votes seperated us.
15554 votes were cast of which we had 5721, Matt had 5668 and the 3rd placed car was nearer 700, so it was a 2 horse race to say the least.
There were no prizes for 2nd place so I asked the magazine to give Matt my lifetime subsciption which was one of the prizes, he really deserved that at least. Someone talked about the merits of doing the work yourself or paying for it to be done. I'm not a mechanic so I can't do it myself, but I knew what I wanted for my car and it was my own money that paid for it. I don't know many people who do their own resprays or rebuild their own engines, so where do you draw the line?
The magazine makes the rules and we abided by them, but in the end people have to vote, and as I probably know only about 200 of my voters, I think the rest of them must have liked my car. We even had quite a few votes from the P1OC and some of the WR1oc voted for other cars, so there you go. We were very pleased to win anyway and I hope loads more of you try your luck this year. I fancy a P1 to win this time.

Well done Chris, your car is stunning. Matts P1 also looks fantastic and either car would have been a worthy winner in my opinion.
