Unhappy Just had a look at the new STi saloon.

Over at St Leger Subaru in Donny, as I was picking up a part for my classic.

All I can say is: booooorrrrriiiinnnnggg.

It looks like a Passat from a couple of years back.

The interior is still poor, and the Recaro seats weren't as comfortable as the STi6 ones in mine.

And where's the SPOILER? AND the rear wash wipe?

Sidelight bulbs etc.

If you think that Subaru should spend its development budget on interiors and exterior styling rather than boxer engines and AWD transmission then I think you miss the point to some extent!

With the recent engine problems, I'm not so sure they're spending too much on engine developement, either!

I sat in one and though the Recaro seats were great!

Uk models have never had a rear wash wipe.

But what happens when there are none left? Unless Subaru return to form...

I have bad dreams with hatchbacks in them

Spoilers are now an EXTRA?

The car I looked at was a dealer owned one, registered September 2010, 1000 miles, but they still wanted £31,000 for it And no spoiler or rear wash-wipe.

Subaru/IM have lost the plot.

im 5ft 4" and sat in the recaros and found them uncomfortable too as they are too tight and bolstered around the waist. Anyone over them dimensions would hate the seats long term.As for the appearance i like it but with the spoiler. The nurburging time of 7mins 55 secs is very decent.

Agree about the Recaros, too tight across my thighs and I am 5'8" and NOT fat. My wife would not be able to drive it.....but that's a plus, surely?

When I got the hatch last July I went to test drive a March 2010 registered STi with 1200 miles on the clock, wouldn't budge from the £26300 on the windscreen.

Went to another dealer and got a brand new car for far less, St. Ledgers loss as I would have taken my car to them for servicing, not now.

£31k is silly money.

The All new(maybe) MK2 4cyl Turbo boxer engine will for MY12 car. No more TMIC and Turbo at rear of engine. It will have FMIC and front mounted rotated Turbo.

Rumours that it will be out in the USA in April 2011, but more likely out For new 2012 model Autumm 2011.

IMHO

might just have to put a deposit down on one now

Wasn't a standard car, it was a JDM spec test vehicle.

Lost of talk about the interior and exterior aesthetics - lets face it even historical models arent much to look at in either department. Main criteria is how does it drive?

Friend of mine took our local demo new STi to work a few times in Whitehaven and reckoned it went better than his Hawk UK STi PPP.

Wanted to buy it but the dealer would not budge on the nearly new price......said there was no money in selling them so he walked away...............

Yet another **** poor decision from Subaru: does someone in a powerful decision there work for VW I wonder?

First they decide they they're going to abandon their principle demographic and try and chase the premium end of the market, which they just can't compete with - it's fundamentally not what the cars are about. No one who is after a prestige produce is going to buy a Subaru.

The they give us the Hatch that no one wants under the guise of being more competitive in motorsport and refuse to do a saloon variant in the UK.

Then they pull out of Rallying - which was the sport that made the brand!

Now they've seen sense a reinstated the saloon, but are charging 31k for it! (about 5k too much!!!)

Subaru: here's the deal: you were most successful when you sold good value, tarty rice rockets, not middle management cars! There is still a big market for the former: get back in rallying, quit the pursuit of the VW group/BMW demographic, give us back a saloon car that will show the current crop of hot hatches a clean pair of heels AS STANDARD, give it proper pistons and a decent wing and all the spoilers and make it available for around 25k

Couldn't agree more, but tbh, I think they have lost their way big time and we may yet see the end of the marque in the UK
