i saw this in the news today, the government is taking it to far now, i appreciate that there is a deficit that no matter what goverment was in we would have to get rid of it, but how much do you have to rape motorists to recover it, hold the previous goverment liable.
its bad enough that they got rid of our harriers thinking that they would save ££ but they are still short of some £5-7Bn

This country is just going down the shi.tter. All these programs about dodgey builders etc ripping customers off, well maybe they should look at what the government is doing to everyone. They dont care because they get expenses for this and that whereas we just seem to end us with less and less money every friggin month!!

A few years ago you'd have lorry divers creating havoc by blocking petrol station, miles and miles of roads blocked by them protesting, every one basically just kicking off to get it lowered, now everyone just seems to 'get on with it'
Seems messed up that now it's at it highest and still rising people don't bother!

Im confussed please help me here why last year did the go goverment give millions to poor countries when that money could have sorted our on debt, I don't get this country it seems to help everyone else other than the people who live in it and work hard etc etc,

Truth is that all the intelligent money has gone into owning and driving more frugal cars - so, the impact of higher fuel costs doesn't hit as hard as it once did (just 5 years ago).
Scooby owners are a dying breed, only the die hards are left with one as their daily runner - those that have one for the weekend just couldn't sell it when they wanted to.
Electric is where we are headed, until then Diesel is king.

I doubt it would make a big deal to those arrested - if it came to a job interview you think you'll be turned down because you made a stand? (unless they think your a pushy f*cker who will play hell with HR )
My Jeep Cherokee is 4.0L Petrol - even at £1.50 will I sell it? Will I f*ck - no one will buy it for a start but even so I will not give up the things I enjoy because of a spineless government that can't deal with the economy properly.

By the end of 2011, we will be looking at £1.90-£2.00 per litre.
Even car manufactures have given up now, all the major car makers are pushing to release there electric cars by the end of the year.
Which asks the question, if say 50% of the vehicles on our road are electric by 2016 what would happen to the price of petrol / diesel?
Go through the roof as its deemed a luxury or fall due to less demand?

By that reasoning we will all be ok when we have effectively paid the equivalent to an extra £10 through taxes but I dont think its as simple as that unfortunately.

You know what?
I've been here before and remember it well ... the quadruple increase we saw in 1973 .. this is small fry compared to THAT shock I can tell you!!
That was the same as tomorrow the pumps showing £5:20 a Litre!!! Think of me in my car seeing that back in '73?
My mate had a V12 E-Type at the time and tried to sell it, a Red Roadster - I wanted it so much ... he couldn't sell it!!!!! I didn't have the purchase price despite him dropping it to the price of a Capri!!!!
The very same is happening to the Impreza - almost impossible to sell, and, now - it WILL be impossible!
I considered buying a STi for £27,000 in June 2010 - thank heavens I saw sense and didn't! What's that worth now? £15,000? £12,500? £10,000? Less even? What a shocking loss - horrendous!!

People who found it within their means to buy a brand new £27k Impreza Sti last summer do not concern themselves with the price of fuel. In addition, if you can find a 6 month old Sti Hatch going for less than around £25k then you are a better man than I Gunga Din.

Man this is seriously depressing news. Im a Subaru die hard. I love the brand and how they drive. Hell i even rocked a Justy.
I live in the countryside and for me 4x4 is a must. I do 400+ miles a week in my Uk Turbo and love every mile. But its looking like madness to keep doing it. My car is worth as much as a packet of crisps and its love making me keep her. I dont really fancy splashing out £10k plus on a car i dont even like. I would drive an open top super light weight Atom type thing no problem if it was available to save fuel. I dont like diesel for country road blatting, electric sucks and both are going to cost me way more than filling up my worthless car with juice for a few years.
I understand the gov have to do something to curb everyone driving so much. But there is very little alternative for someone like me. Its very unfair but looks like ill just have to earn more to compensate then hope Subaru give us something we an afford to drive. Argh!!

by Easter average petrol prices could be as high as 136p a litre, with diesel at "an unthinkable" 140p.
