Wnter Tyres.......
Hi guys - looking to get some advice.
A month ago I treated my Hawkeye WRX to 4 new Bridgestone Potenza's as wanted to make sure car was in tip top condition coming up to the cold weather.
Never thought that the climate would get quite so bad, but still thought these 4 newbie tyres would be half decent in the snow/ice - how wrong have I been!!!!! To be fair they were average on the snow but come any sign of ice and the car is big risk especially any need for braking even it 5mph.
Therefore, I'm looking to potentially strip myself of some more cash to try and be as safe as possible ......... I've noticed Nokian WR G2 winter tyres in my local area - are these tyres any good (anyone gtot them/had them before) and would they provide better grip/safety in snow/ice/cold weaher?
Thanks for any replies.

Hope you didn't buy RE050s, as they are cr@p. If you bought RE070s and thought they would be half decent in the snow then you were onto a loser straight off.
Nokians are very good for the winter.

My wife has a BMW E39 which you may know are totally useless in snow and ice when using the usual summer tyres. Several on BMWLand forum have gone to Nokians for the winter with outstanding results. Difference apparently is night and day!
We just parked the BM and use the Scooby.

Thanks guys for your replies - appreciated. I'm off to order the Nokians.
Boyakasha - yes they were the RE050's mate and agree with you especially in this weather as I'd be as well putting bobsleigh runners on the Hawkeye than those I have on it just now.

Rocking Nokian WR's since Sep this year. Have amazed me how good they are. First winter i put proper winter tyres on. Good job i did. Only draw back id say is they make more road noise and throw chuckies up under car way more often. But top in all conditions in my book.

some excellent advice their guys - ta.
one quick question - if i purchase the 4 x Nokain am I best sticking them on from Nov - March months (traditionally worst weather), and in better climate pop the Pontenza's back on as weather clears or do some guys keep Nokain's on longer?

Can't praise the Nokians enough.
As a "rule" you keep them on if temperatures are at 7 Centigrade or lower. Once temp gets up over 7 degrees C, they start to wear quicker and the cold compound rubber is less grippy.
